This is a really good point, but the new Reith typeface, which appears on the new BBC logo was started to be introduced in 2017-2018, by that point the Gill Sans typeface had been in use for 20 years, if they really wanted to expunge Gill Sans because of that, then why it took 20 years? Surely they could have done it earlier. Also by the time the BBC adopted Gill Sans back in 1997, the acts of bestiality committed by Eric Gill were already known and discovered....and that is why makes it even more bewildering to me
Yes, after 24 years it's overdue a change anyway and I doubt there are many fonts in use in broadcasting back in 1997 that still are today in the same way. The BBC had begun moving away from it as early as 2001 anyway.

As for the connections - couldn't they just rename the font if that was their primary concern?
