The 6pm news has been moved all over the place the last couple of weeks for the football and the 1pm news shortened when necessary (to as short as 15 mins inc regional news). Moving it for two weeks to accomodate the start time of the show courts at Wimbledon makes so much sense and improves coverage on both channels - and this year with the 1.30pm start on Centre (which I assume has been moved from 1pm so there is a staggering of fans arriving for Centre and Court 1) means all they'd have to do is run a shortened edition, something they've done numerous times over the last couple of weeks.dvboy post_id=24198 time= user_id=1528 Wrote:I suspect if they did this there would be complaints about the news being shuffled about. Wimbledon gets continuous coverage on at least one channel throughout - that is a serious commitment given there are only two channels available for most of the day.Brekkie post_id=24139 time= user_id=976 Wrote:This year Centre Court starts at the later time of 1.30pm. Such a shame the news can't be curtailed to a 30 minute slot like it is for the football to give BBC1 a 1.30pm start as well. Knowing the BBC they'll leave an outdoor court match on BBC2 to join Court 1 at 1pm, then interrupt that for 20 minutes waiting for BBC1 to join.
P.S. Also think it might have been worth keeping Newsnight at 10.45pm a bit longer and trialling Today at Wimbledon at 10pm, with main coverage ending at 9pm.
It really is about time they moved the news to 12:00 during Wimbeldon fortnight to avoid the inevitable channel hopping.
They also won't shift the extended Politics Live on Wednesday so you have coverage starting on BBC One, moving to BBC Two and then returning to BBC One.
