Farewell...

By the way, thanks for the donations (they aren't necessary)... I've donated most of it to the UK Sepsis Trust, some has gone towards funding the new TV Live website (which I hope to have launched by September - follow @tvlive on Twitter for updates), and the rest... well, I did treat myself to a pint on the way home from work... Thanks, Rob and others who have made the past 21 years possible.

Joe

I’ve always enjoyed your posts, Joe, and it always warms my heart to see some of the old 2006/7 crowd still active on here, as that’s when I joined TVF and the community became part of my life.

Just a quick note to Rob to thank him enormously for picking up our community after the closure of TVF and giving it a home.

What you have done for the TV Pres community over the last 15 years, what with your hard work documenting and archiving so much pres with TV Live, your excellent podcasts and other projects, and now taking the stewardship of this forum, has been second to none. People like me who enjoy following the TV pres and production news and gossip, reading the insightful posts, and occasionally chipping in with a thought or two are ever so grateful for your hard work in making it all possible.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Rob for everything, take care and hope that we might meet again online someday.
I think for a whole chunk of us who were 'founding members' TVF/TVLF has been a constant in tough/joyful/changing times as we navigated life.

I do remember signing up to the blue place after discovering TV Home on a rainy Saturday in my teenage years. Like most of you of such vintage, I'm somewhat older now and don't necessarily have as much free time to contribute due to other commitments, but did love to dip in and read the discussions, and see how passionate some people are.

A large thanks to Rob for investing his personal time and monies to develop this place as a community, and for taking the reins from TVF. Good luck for your future endeavours and where life may take you.

Ultimately, it can be understood why you wish to not continue and completely respect that.

To those that have made his life difficult (for whatever reason), why bother? Real people sit behind these screens and keyboards, and to drive an individual to the point of such extreme negative feelings and consequently take such measures is detestable. There is absolutely no need for it, even if you don't agree with the point of view.

It's been good to be part of this community over the years with many a character and interesting contribution, and I will miss that. My best wishes to all of you and perhaps see you in a forum sometime soon.
I’m still so sad this site got closed by people attacking Rob. It’s a real shame. This was a great place and it was here that I finally registered, after years of only reading TVF as a guest, because it felt welcoming and well run.

It beggars belief that it’s having to be closed because some people just can’t be civil.

I’ve joined the main two “other sites” but I just don’t know….the death of this place, and particularly the circumstances of it, have taken the shine off things for me and having taken years to feel comfortable posting in a pres forum, I don’t now feel particularly motivated to do so elsewhere. Maybe I’ll feel differently later on but at the moment I just feel bad for Rob and I can’t get that out of my head. It’s really soured things for me and so maybe I’ll just walk away again now. I’ll see.
I was going to throw a compass up towards the sky and play eight notes on a guitar but someone seems to already have that covered.

My thanks again to Rob, all those who contributed to the launch and operation of this place, and all you lot who made me a little less lonely in a funny old way. Hope to see you again somewhere in some form or another.

As the great Ortis Deley once said,

Jessica Ennis... Goodnight.
TV Live Forum - March 31st 2021 - July 31st 2022

It's sad to see TVLF close down after only a year and a half, but as they always say, health and safety comes first and I completely understand the reason why the forum is shutting down.

To Rob, who was absolutely amazing at running the forum and letting us continue doing what the blue place let us do, to the moderators who did their absolute best job at making TVLF as welcoming as possible to others, and to Asa, who came up with the original TV Forum idea in the first place 21 years ago, Thank you all for letting us discuss television presentation and news in the UK and around the world.

This is BrandonH, signing off for the last time here at TV Live Forum after a year and a half. Have a pleasant goodnight everyone and I will see you all tomorrow on Pres Cafe and TV Talk Forum (I'm registered under the same name on both forums)

Goodnight.

This will be my official goodbye post to the TVLF team, but I will be posting one last thread on here: The Last Prophecies of TVLF, our final guess as to what is next. However, onto my Goodbye. I was only present during the last days of TVF, and joined TVLF as one of its 'founding' members. I come from a background of admiring the design and art of things, and I find the construction of presentation to be the most fascinating aspect of this niche topic. I love looking at concept vs. execution, and considering whether or not the ideas of things actually work out: Oneness being an example of bad execution of a good idea, same with the initial 2015 Channel 4 rebrand.

I came here for that, and was amazed to find it, and a little bit more. Discussion of TV shows, the technical side of things, it was all there, and it was great. Im not an expert on all this: Im a 25 year old LSA. Im not knowledgeable on this stuff. But to have a forum where it is accessible to me was fantastic. Rob, you're a leg-end.

So, I won't say goodbye, per se. All I will say, however, is see you later.

Au revoir, sayonara, adios - however you say it, I guess this is farewell. Thanks for your work this past year and half, Rob and the moderators.

See you over at TV Talk I guess?
And it's a firm goodbye from me...

Well, this is it, the final few hours of TVLF. It was a fun ride while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end. Farewell.
This will be my last post on TV Live Forum.

I’d just like to thank Rob for starting this forum to continue the legacy of TV Forum, which has allowed us to discuss the relatively niche subject of television presentation for the past 16 months.

I’d also like to thank everyone who has contributed to the forum, whether regularly or just occasionally, because a community would be nothing without members. Especially those who imparted interesting and fascinating information that I would never have known about if it wasn’t shared here.

I have signed up to all of the new forums using the same username so I hope to see some of you there.

Thank you and Goodbye.

For the TV Live Forum, Rob, and its team, this is my last post here. I and several others apologize for making mistakes while on this forum in the past 16 months.

I will sign-off to this forum, and you hope to see me at either TVTalk Forum and Pres Cafe as a different username (using same username as a Metropol user).

We will see you a peaceful day, Goodbye.

It'll be hard to put into words how sudden and abrupt the news of the end of TV Live Forum felt when I heard it was closing earlier this week. I was a longtime lurker of TV Forum, and that site's closure was what inspired me to actively take part here on TVLF -- it wasn't clear whether I'd get the chance again, and I opted not to squander it. As an American, it's not always the easiest to add value to some of the more British-centric minutiae, but I kept up with many of the threads here, and I'm proud to have pitched in what little I could (I only just crossed 50 posts before writing this one). The conversations here these past fifteen months have done so much to both nourish and nurture my lifelong love of both television presentation and the medium at large.

It's a shame it has to end like this, but mental health is deeply important, as I've also learned in recent years. I want to thank Rob for picking up the mantle and continuing to offer such an immense, invaluable space and resource with grace and aplomb. TV Live is an important part of the online television presentation and branding landscape, and I hope you continue to find exciting ways to share your passion.

As for me, I've signed up for Pres Café and TV Talk Forum, so my journey doesn't end here. If you're not crossing over, you can also find me on YouTube (link in signature) or Twitter (@imbenzj).
As this will be my last post here I just wanted to say a big thank you to Rob and the team for their work and time put into this site. I was a long time lurker of TV Forum and then more recently here. It was always a good way to spend a few minutes on my lunch hour to see the latest goings on in the world of TV/broadcasting. I wanted to take part more but work and life just got in the way. Maybe next time. As others have expressed I'm very disappointed to see this site close but of course I fully respect the reasons behind it. I'm looking at the options for a new forum and to be perfectly honest none are particularly appealing to me. I guess we'll see what happens.

All the very best to Rob and the team for the future.

Thanks again.
