I love the main BBC studio. Great location, very colourful and a nice mix of real and virtual.

Is it just the ceiling that is virtual, or are there other elements? 

I really like the design of the sofa and table.

I'm getting CBBC vibes from the colours.

I assumed that green was to overlay something virtual when we saw the promo - clearly not. Think yellow would have worked better considering it seem to be the colour of the signage at the games (and of course of BBC Sport).

I agree where it has the bbc sport logo that should have been yellow.

Looking around the foreign channels I think I’ve found the games channel feed the curated world feed which I think sunset and vine are calling the integrated feed, it has an out of vision presenter linking in between the events with a beauty shot.

Really wish the Commonwealth Games would adopt the clean venue policy from the Olympics. I guess they have their reasons for not doing so like advertising obligations but having no advertisements in the venues makes it clean and really special.

The BBC sport studio is nice, it helps having proper windows with a real view which comes hand in hand with a home games. It always makes me wonder why the Commonwealth logo isn't used more though. You can't miss the Olympic Rings in the studio usually but the Commonwealth 3 V's logo is no where to be seen...

The Olympics is in a unique position where companies like McDonalds/Coca-Cola will pay for the rights to advertise the Olympics on their products. It also makes billions from TV rights sales. Other multi-sport events aren’t in the same position.

On Commonwealth logo it isn’t in the public consciousness in the same as the Olympic rings, and they tend to push the host cities branding more.

I think the stadium sponsorship is fine - odd though how some venues have it all in the style of the look of the games, which looks much better and is integrated quite well, whilst others have more standard sponsor boards in the colours of the company which looks more commercial.

Definitely a fan of the more integrated advertising. The boards at the velodrome with the company colours don't look as nice in my opinion.

The BBC DOG on iPlayer streams has moved to the top right corner on some sports during the day as it can clash with on-screen scoreboard. Hopefully that common sense will extend to the new football etc. graphics.

An issue with the swimming commentary. Began with Bob Ballard and Hannah Miley from the world feed (and credited), then oddly crashed into Andy and Adrian mid-race.

The comedians of Birmingham/West Midlands is a nice touch, but why are they having to shout over the music to be heard in the stadium? The shouted delivery reminds me of a teacher who’s lost control of a class!

We could hear them fine in the stadium, they didn't need to shout but with the speakers facing outwards I suspect they didn't realise this from the centre. Shazia Mirza did the warmup and I joked with my dad that if she kept that up she'd have no voice left pretty quickly. Fortunately she didn't have too many lines but the humour in them was lost in the delivery.
Having watched it back on TV (although I skipped parts) they did a good job of hiding the athletes who made a quick exit after they'd reached the end of the home straight or tried to cross the path from the centre later. The only other thing to note was we didn't hear the message for the Kenyan team in the stadium although we heard all of the others and saw them on the screens in the stadium.

Very well organised but lots of people got there incredibly early. Start time on the tickets was 19:15 as that included a warm-up and a rehearsal of some dance moves they wanted the audience to do during the Ginny Lemon bit (spelling out "brum" YMCA-style) that no-one in the audience actually remembered to do because there was no prompt and it wasn't really in a stand-out part of the song, but watching back on TV you see the cast doing it.

I'm surprised they don't have a studio set-up at the Aquatics Centre, I expected Clare Balding and her guests to be there rather than Centenary Square.

Quite like the studio. Just a shame that the building has a lip on the roof that is blocking the Library of Birmingham shot where the main presenter sits. Ironically, the BBC Three studio doesn’t have that but the view isn’t as good (derelict land next to the fantastic exchange building).
