With regards to Harry Styles his parents were from elsewhere in Worcestershire, Redditch would have been the local maternity ward though. His family soon moved up to Cheshire. So to say he’s from the area is a bit of push.

Does anyone know if there's a full list of broadcasters that are actually showing the games live other than the limited list on Wikipedia? As far as I can see it only seems to be live in the UK, NZ, Australia and India.

My local town claims Ed Sheeran who lived in the town for about 2 years so on that basis Harry Styles is from Birmingham!

No they don’t, but they could probably have done so on this occasion. It’s only the cover that would be different, the pages would be the same as usual

Way off topic but I wonder why they still do different England versions, they could just do one, and dedicate two spreads to local radio instead as that is surely the only difference between the three England versions

Interestingly they've now added a "Broadcast Schedule", which is just a list of broadcasters - though they've listed S4C for England, Scotland and NI but not Wales.  Also listed is Premier Sports - guessing they might be showing them in Ireland?

Apparently they are showing a nightly highlights show at 10:30pm. I'm going out on a limb, but it probably will be a world feed production. The Olympic Channel in the US is also showing daily highlights which I'm guessing will be the same programme.

The S4C highlights go out at 10pm each night which is potentially a tight turn around for them, guess each show will go through the day chronologically rather than start with the big medals if they are in the evening. Busy weekend for S4C and BBC Wales as produers next week with full live coverage of the National Eisteddfod and their Commonwealth Games coverage.

Update on S4C, they actually had a highlights show tonight that started before the ceremony ended!

Catrin Heledd presenting from Central Square and Lauren Jenkins presenting in Birmingham tonight. Interesting graphics, definitely not the world feed ones I'm assuming...





This looks more possible a version of an official graphic but completely different colours to the lower thirds in the opening ceremony.

Is he doing GMB at the moment? He'd have been a good choice though. Stewart Lee is from the West Midlands too, although I can't see him doing it 


They can't really be too specific about such things, if you did a survey of famous brummie comedians then Jasper Carrot and Lenny Henry would probably be the main two responses. And as so many people on social media delight in pointing out Lenny's from Dudley*, which is true but still within the West Midlands modern county. 

To be accurate they'd only be able to have Jasper Carrott and a hologram of Tony Hancock.


* although that's not the main reason some people object to his involvement sadly.

Not a great view of the Library of Birmingham from the studio, from what we’ve seen so far you can only see the entrance so they miss out on basically the key design features. The BBC Three backdrop looks better.

That said the studio looks pretty good with virtual set extensions.

World feed graphics are definite improvement on what’s served at the Olympics. Although they usually are.
