X Factor to return?

Interesting there seems to have been no further comment either way today which kind of suggests there is some truth in it. Usually denials come out quicker than confirmations.

I think for all it's faults in the end at least The X Factor had something so many shows seem to lack now - a bit of ambition. TV has always had shows which are that little bit above anything else they show in staging and production, which ITV still has in Q1 & Q2 with The Masked Singer, Saturday Night Takeaway and BGT - but has been lacking in the second half of the year with shows which are all basically at the same level. Maybe Ninja Warrior somewhat ticks that box this year - certainly more so than the likes of The Cube and The Void did last year, but it's not exactly A-list TV. As a fan of it I'd even say B-list was generous.

Something thats interesting is that the official X Factor twitter account still has a link to itv.com/xfactor. However, clicking it takes you to a 404 not found error. According to the Wayback Machine, it was still operating as a valid web page until 10th May 2021, after which the entire section was taken down. The 14th May has an attempted crawl which simply displays "Not Found" as a generic error, the following day its an ITV designed 404.

I would keep an eye on the twitter account to see if it has a link change at any point to a channel 5 domain.

Also see where the official xfactor.tv redirects to. Currently itv.com/xfactor which has a 404 error.

If Channel 5 do get TXF then it may be worth bringing back Night Fever.

That's probably because The X Factor is no longer a ITV programme and that it's been properly axed.
