It’s almost as if a new cricket score bar hasn’t been created as part of the new package, and they’ve just tweaked the old one a bit (new BBC blocks, a hint of a gradient in the yellow bit). Which is bizarre, as we’ve seen the football score bar in the new style, and I don’t quite understand why they couldn’t create a new one for cricket in the same manner.
And I’ll be fascinated to see if tomorrow’s highlights package reverts to the old set (for the astons around the BBC presentation elements - they are using the Sky/world feed graphics for the match edit), as today was a BBC Sport in-house production and tomorrow is a Whisper production.

How come the picture degraded to SD at the end of the England game just there? Was that a switch to the regions taking control?

You're all being very charitable. They are awful, awful graphics and whoever signed them off should be ashamed.

You are right Michael these graphics aren’t great at all, the top part takes up too much space with a colour gradient, the text and the weights of the font do not seem right either and from what we seen seems inconsistent like the bbc logo boxed off, not boxed off.
I don't mind them personally but surprised the icon doesn't seem to feature at all, I thought we may see it in the titles for example.
Currently the app has an icon which doesn't seem to be referenced anywhere

Just watching The Super League Show earlier with the old graphics and everything just seems that much slicker.

I really don't think the package is that bad. Overall it fits in with the gradient look of the whole rebrand and (provided the gradient fades on, and doesn't stretch on) the animations are quite nice.

I didn't mention it at the time, due to being so busy, but I did notice on the exit credits of Wimbledon that Moov was involved in the graphics. As we know, Moov was responsible for the frankly terrible "on screen graphics" used in the BBC Snooker coverage (ie full-width always-on scoreboard and a pointless transparent black box below it). So the fact that they're randomly using gradients does not surprise me, as they're probably trying to "innovate" while doing it badly.
