Are BBC 1 really going to stick with the football tonight is Boris Johnson resigns or is forced out this evening?

Possibly. BBC 2 could air the live news coverage instead. If it was a men’s England Euro or World Cup match I doubt it would be moved to BBC2.

I would hope it would be. The Prime Minister standing down is about one of the most serious news stories that a BBC 1 schedule should be cleared for.

I agree for ITV though it probably would not be Tenable to air Boris Johnson at his Tipping Point ahead of The Chase to replace him.

Pretty much a no win situation for the BBC.  Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Boris might wait for the 10s though - he has to tell the Carrie first (and the Queen) and strip some wallpaper.

Boris is playing hardball so unlikely anything major will happen tonight but I suppose there is always the potential for a turnabout.

Which is why having one merged channel is not going to work for breaking news stories like this.

Interestingly it seems BBC World News is now showing Focus on Africa in some parts of the World but I’m still seeing Huw Edwards on BBC World News here in Ireland.
