A bit surprised there was no tribute included from Nick Owen either considering their life long friendship. Did Midlands Today mention it or the ITV Evening News?

There was no mention on the ITV Evening News, nor Midlands today. Quite surprising really given both have a mention when he announced his retirement in April.

I am surprised they didn’t bring back any old faces from Central’s past and Bob’s ‘’Tv wives’’, namely Llewellaand Jo.

A brilliant special programme. Lots of archive clips and a special appearance from many familiar faces including his former Central co-hosts Wendy Nelson and Llewela Bailey.

Also realised that now we're getting the ITV Border regional programme "The Way We Were", which is about 20 years old. So an evening of regional programmes here in Central, something we've not had in many years!

It was nice that they aired it on the network so those of us outside of the midlands could record it and watch it on a proper telly

Just caught up with the programme and it was excellent to watch with some great archive clips from down the years and good to see a wide range of faces paying tribute.

Also, I can't see anyone starting now in regional television chalking up nearly 50 years.

It is quite made to think of anyone starting out today still presenting the regional news in whatever guise it may be in come 2070.

There are a few faces from the 80s and 90s still around but we're getting to the point now where many regional news presenters won't have been around in the days when ITV was truly a regional network.
