The new graphics are nice. Though I wish they did a transition timed with the crescendo of the theme into a medium speed camera zoom (or a slow jib shot over the set) into the presenter out of the wipe/transition. Woulda have added a slight bit more energy off the top of the broadcast. IMO the title is there long enough to read. But its nice look overall.

Not really possible, because you have to remember they’re playing out two different sets of titles for east and west then opting back together for the opening link, so it needs to be kept relatively clean rather than throwing a camera move into it too.
Interesting if thats indeed the reason. Just seems like a strange restriction/reason. Seems odd that the cameras need to be locked down and they cant accomplish a slow zoom off the top from the transition, even though the presenter gets cued to begin speaking. But its a nice graphics update. Now if we can do something about those sets...

It looks like Vanessa Kennedy has replaced Sophie Wallace in presenting weekend bulletins, plus Mon-Weds lates and occasional cover on the STV News at Six.
Vanessa also covered the Six for Kelly-Ann just before Sophie left.

Not sure I agree with Reporting Scotland that Rangers FC reaching the Europa League final is a bigger story than the local elections (which affect all the country).
They've led on the former story last night, this morning and now again at lunchtime. I don't really understand their excitable sports reporter declaring that it is a story that affects all of Scottish football.

It's probably of more interest tomore viewers, especially as counting didn't start till this morning.

Credit where it's due, it was impressive that Reporting Scotland had an in-person interview with John Kerry (US climate envoy) to mark 6 months since COP 26 in Glasgow. They asked him about how the world has changed environmentally since Ukraine, and his views on achieving environmental targets. Very professional.
Reporting Scotland has moved all bulletins to the soft set, i.e. the standing desk. Lunchtime, Evening and Late news will come from the standing set. Not sure about breakfast. Find out shortly!
Is the move to that second part of the set for all programmes for any particular reason? Is it in preparation for updating the studio? I saw the edge of the platform for the main desk is still there in shot in tonight’s late programme.
