CBS branding to be dropped from UK channels.

Now it's gonna look even more awkward - the only way this could work with the other changing brands is if they changed to this style of logo too

Pre-launch promo for Legend has been posted on Horror's Twitter account.
The logo seems to deviate from the CBS stylings we were thinking they were going to use.
With speculations that the CBS license will soon be no more, I don't expect the US 'dissected Eyemark' animation will be the channel's new look. By the looks of it, just a continuation of the blob of ink style, but the inconsistency of using full caps or small letters is not unnoticeable.
Now on TVTalk, Pres Café and DeviantArt. Goodbye to all that, TVLF.

Legend just sounds like another generic channel showing generic content. What is the point? at least Horror had something unique. As others have said, the days are numbered. Doubt they will last beyond five years..

Legend makes more sense than Horror really, as there is a large amount of sci fi on the channel.

The Xtra channels are just bizarre - Reality Xtra will have plenty of drama (though CBS Drama equally had plenty of reality!) and Horror Xtra has no parent channel for it to be an extra of.

I wonder if this will be a two stage process with the Xtras getting new brands later.

Reading today's announcement it looks like some of the Xtra channels are set to move from COM7 to the Local Mux next week. Given the limited number of Freeview users who'll then be able to watch it maybe that's why they've given it an 'Xtra' name, rather than a completely separate one.

There appears to be a bit of conflicting information doing the rounds....

It's being stated that CBS Reality will stay as CBS Reality, instead of just 'Reality'.

The other CBS branded channels are definitely going, replaced with RealityXtra, HorrorXtra and Legend.

So, here's my thoughts on this:

The CBS channels used to be great, airing lots of old shows like Dynasty, Dallas, Knots Landing, Gunsmoke, High Chapparal, Jake and the Fatman, along with some very rare movies e.g. September Gun, California Gold Rush etc. but then starting to just abandon their channel, they stopped airing movies (in August 2019, fun fact) started only airing like 5 shows per channel and stopped adding new shows to the channel, think it's been like 2 years since a new show has came to CBS Justice for example.

I'm not even sure why they decided to rebrand in the first place, may have something to do with Paramount, but still. I just know that this channel is going to get abandoned starting day one! Networks have been abandoning their channels and not doing anything about it since COVID hit. I've noticed the sudden increase of streaming happened during the pandemic, and after networks found out, they just decided to go “forget it, we’ll just abandon our channels because no one watches them anymore”.

I miss back in 2017-2019 when CBS aired GOOD STUFF like The District, Gunsmoke, Touched by an Angel, movies etc. now it's just repeats of CSI, NCIS, Matlock, Walker and Judge Judy.

R.I.P CBS Channels (2009-2022), just like the Sony channels, you were great channels at first, only to get worse overtime. I actually tried so many times to make this channel better, but it failed. I know that the “Xtra” channels won't be much better too. Take GREAT! for an example. Not many new shows have arrived to GREAT! TV since the rebrand last year, the ones that did arrive were just recent stuff, I thought GREAT! was supposed to be a channel airing more older shows?

It's a shame that many good TV channels are either getting rebranded, abandoned or just closing down. I miss the days back when TV channels CARED. I miss the days back when TV channels WERE GOOD. I miss the days back when TV was POPULAR. But, as SpongeBob said in “Goodbye Krabby Patty”, who am I to fight the future? I don't mind streaming, but it's heartbreaking to see all these channels get abandoned, then renamed then abandoned again, then probably shut down.

Rant over. I don't expect these channels to last more than two years. I just know they'll get renamed and that’s all she wrote. Enjoy watching the same 5 shows on repeat. We don't care.

Didn't realise that Horror Xtra was "leaving" Freeview completely, so a bit odd for a channel on Sky to only start at 5pm.

You'd think CBS might use their slot on the local channels to offer something not on Freeview rather than a simulcast.

The local TV outlet brings in a small additional audience of about 15% to Reality, but that small audience would not really be enough to sustain a different channel on its own.

Isn't the idea that it would be 24 hours on Sky, and it's only on Freeview where it's exclusive to the Local TV channels?

Promos have popped up on the CBS channels mentioning the change. For example, I saw a promo on CBS Drama today saying that soon the channel will be RealityXtra.

Welp, the channels officially rebranded today. Seem to be the same branding they've used since 2018. For example, CBS Drama's idents had some blue haze appearing while the logo appears on screen. RealityXtra's is mainly the same, except this time the haze is green and the logo is yellow/white (if I recall correctly)

I DID have the first sign on for the channel, but accidentally deleted it. Hopefully someone else recorded the sign ons for the channels. I don't want them to become lost (for example, the True channels rebranding to Sony are lost).

Also, does anyone else find it weird that Legend's font is completely different from the other channels?

What a very strange decision to keep CBS branding on just 1 channel, and give all the rest a bland nothingness identity.

It's as if CBS don't want their brand associated with such low budget type programming that RealityXtra, HorrorXtra and Legend show, yet are happy for CBS Reality to carry the same type of low end rubbish but with the CBS Branding.

I won't be too surprised if CBS Reality just becomes Reality one day and quietly drops the CBS brand once and for all.

I wonder if the reason they haven't just gone with rebranding CBS Reality as "Reality" is because of the implication someone might confuse it with Discovery-owned Really, which has similar, if not identical names.
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

That's on them though - it was ludicrous enough changing 5Prime in case it got confused with Amazon Prime, but reality in really nobody is mixing up "Really" and "Reality".  Wink

As others have suggested disconnecting the CBS brand from them does feel like they're priming them for a sale, but I'd have thought if that was the case Drama and Justice would appeal more to buyers than Reality Xtra and Horror Xtra.
