I’ve never really understood the issue around publishing the pay. I’d be happy for it to be out there if I earnt an amazing amount of money - it’s still in my bank account at the end of the day!![]()
But this must be a worrying time inside BBC (News especially I guess) as they are losing the best.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the BBC being forced to publish specific salary bands of high-earning talent/staff has not only been devasting for the corporation but has had its intended result (as seen with Global's poaching spree).
Being made to give their rivals a giant gift on a silver platter is something the corporation (which doesn't stand up and defend itself anywhere near as much as it should) should have fought hard against doing. As it is, Global is stripping the news division of high-profile presenters/reporters one lucrative offer after another.
