Does anyone else find the ending of the Six and Ten cheesy? I appreciate they’re going for the personal touch and feel to the programme, but it would be so much better if they had a cleaner close such as “Up next is the news where you are, but it’s good night from us”.

That way Huw or any other presenter for that matter doesn’t have to walk over to the other side of the studio.

I agree, they just need to cut to the presenter by the screen rather than walking over and say "and Newsnight is starting now on BBC Two and it's now time for the news where you are". I'd drop the Newsnight feed and just have the wall of regions when this is being said.

Something I did notice tonight is they seem to have improved the framing of the curved wall. It seemed too low initially with the presenters heads poking up above it but the camera now seems to be positioned better

No reason at all why an OB should prevent Look East from offering an opening shot of the OB. Just a case of routing its source up to London.

Yes, North West Tonight was live from the Isle of Man one day this week and that was part of the matrix at the end of the Six no problem.

The last time I was in a TV studio was for Tipping Point about a year ago, and I was actually quite surprised how neat, smart and ‘just like on the telly’ it was. Although I guess it doesn’t quite compare to a news set almost constantly in use for many years.

Not yet. Could be any time up until next spring I guess.

In a lot of cases even easier than that, the OB will often be going through their Master Control so it doesn't even have to go via the region

Completely agree. While I don’t mind the regional news wall, the walk across the studio is torture. Why can’t they walk across there during the weather and just say “Thanks [weather presenter], that’s it from us, there’s more on the news channel/Newsnight is just starting on BBC Two, but on BBC One it’s time for the news where you are…

London stands out massively on the region shot not only because of the better quality but because they are they only ones with an up close shot.

All the programmes without a logo in view somewhere stand out a bit. Newsline looks great with it’s dark skyline background whenever you’re watching in full screen, but you can barely make out what it is in the gallery view

Back when Sky News had Kay on ‘Afternoon Live’ presenting from the ‘Island’ I did think something similar - you had her (or whoever was anchoring) running from the newswall to the ‘island’ during the voiceover while going up and down a few steps. Amazed nobody stumbled or tripped doing it. Why they didn’t just have the presenter stand on the island during the TOTH goodness knows.

They do look like friendly skinny Daleks.
