I remember seeing on Twitter that the Hydro in Glasgow has been cleared of bookings for the entirety on next May. It’s possible the BBC is considering that venue and that would hold quite a lot.

Very handy for connectivity too, being across the river from BBC Scotland

It also appears to have quite a few hotels within a short walk, which will be useful for performers and crew, as well as those attending. Transport wise there's a railway station nearby, and more widely Glasgow has its metro underground system, direct Glasgow (Central) to London (Euston) train links, as well as the airport. I can imagine for the BBC hosting it in one of the nations or at least outside of London may be politically beneficial. It wouldn't surprise me if unofficial discussions have been taking place for the past month prior to today's official announcement by the EBU.

And that part of Glasgow has the experience of international events from it's recent hosting of COP26. Eurovision should a doddle after that

It's interesting that Sturegeon has thrown her weight behind Glasgow already - and promised help from the Scottish Government.

I mean it's not going to do the SNP or Holyrood any harm to put on a major European event.

I'd rather Graham be left to commentary really.  Indeed when you really think about it he may be excellent on the radio and have had acclaim for his chat show but his hosting of light entertainment formats has never set the world alight.

Terry Wogan had to host and commentate on Eurovision but again it might not be suited for Graham.

It really is a different beast to what it was in 1998 though.

I do think they need to add a bit of star quality to the line up. I wouldn't mind Dermot O'Leary being there as the safe pair of hands who could run a show like Eurovision in his sleep (but suspect Tess or Claudia may take that role), and Rylan ticks the superfan box, but I think they need to look beyond the usual presenting pool really towards pop or film for one of the roles. We'll see though - someone like AJ Odudu wouldn't have even been in the frame a year ago but she's truly been excellent on The Bridge and was also fantastic on The Big Breakfast.

I'll get my coat - but Graham Norton is probably the most known Eurovision commentator across Europe, and I suspect the EBU would be pleased if he was hosting.

The idea it'll be a mostly Ukrainian audience is ridiculous, I imagine most people who go to the Eurovision final are there from other countries.
