Absolutely wonderful to see Jane Hill doing the 6 and 10 this evening. I sincerely hope she’s a part of the senior team when the Revamp occurs.

Annita McVeigh has also finally made it on to prime time BBC One. She was on at 6 and will also be on at 10 (with Reeta at Buckingham Palace).

And about time too! She's an outstanding, unflappable presenter and I've often wondered why neither her or Joanna Gosling ever get a look in on Networked bulletins. Of course Joanna has done the odd weekend many years ago but never Annita unless it's that Saturday lunchtime bulletins which anyone presents.

Annita doing a proper Ten (10 titles and 30 mins in length) was a really pleasant surprise. Again, in the same sentiments about Jane - more of Annita please.

The BBC News on BBC One right now is using strange lower thirds. Possibly the wrong template being used...?

Update: sorry - as soon as they moved away from the Jubilee and onto other stories, the usual graphics returned. Must be a deliberate choice. Have they done this before?

They seemed to have similar on the News Channel earlier today, it's the template for programmes made to be rebroadcast, such as Dateline London and The Film Review, I think it was an error on the NC, with them taking all the graphics off-screen to change to the usual set, so it's possible the same applied now.

They look much better than the existing ones.

I'm sure they've been using special Jubilee graphics over the last couple of days (on Breakfast at least any way) when covering the Jubilee.

When they were used on Breakfast they were accompanied by a Jubilee logo, but when used on the news yesterday they weren’t, which is why they looked a bit strange

It's been confirmed that BBC News HD will be leaving Freeview when the Com7 multiplex closes on 30th June. Looks like BBC Four HD & CBeebies HD will be moving over to one of the main PSB muxes.

Although Com7 isn't available in all areas and BBC Four / CBeebies HD will be available on Freeview nationally for the first time, it is a bit of a loss.

At the moment if you watch BBC News SD on Freeview and have a smart TV, the 'press green' prompt comes up on screen to start the current programme from the beginning in HD to save you having to navigate through several menus on iPlayer to access the HD stream. If you want to watch in real time you have to fast forward the stream (which if its been going for 45 minutes takes a while!). I do hope they tweak this so if you press green it takes you to the live stream in real time as that will at least make things easier for most DTT viewers.

I’m gutted by this. Watch BBC News a lot and only have Freeview. Find SD unbearable to watch. Shocking decision.

The other big loss is Quest HD as it doesn't say what's happening to it.

I can get the HD stream on Discovery+ through my Roku stick because I pay for it, but others might not be so fortunate.

It is used on other BBC News programmes like Hardtalk, The Film Review and The Nine on BBC Scotland to date. The news bulletins in the regions and nation's would probably need to use them as well. However the question is how would they display with the new BBC News logo.

Well you can certainly easily imagine them with the three news ‘blocks’ to the left of the line where the Jubilee logo has been.
