Pre-Launch News UK to launch talkTV in 2022
Personally I find Talk Radio more entertaining than LBC, which is so tightly editorialised it's boring beyond belief (bar Nick Abbot) and GB News which is just laughable ranting. I have high hopes for Talk TV.

I always said with Rupert Murdoch as boss, this new channel would never be a Poundland version of a news channel. Murdoch has thrown some cash towards the channel, and the whole look does have a Fox News mixed with MSNBC feel to it (with regards to presentation of course, not content).

100% agreed. It does have a very American look to it - nothing wrong with that of course.

The studios look a million times better than GB News's. Just hope their on-screen pres is decent because GB News's and BBC News Channel's on-screen pres make them pretty much unwatchable, to this geek anyway.

To be fair, we've only seen one studio, the 8pm one.

The current TalkRadio studios where the other 23 hours are broadcast from will need a major upgrade in the next ten days, to even slightly match it
Wouldn’t surprise me if they used the same set for the TV shows (from NewsUK hq) as the radio shows. Perhaps they’d totally get rid of the radio look and use desk mics (like LBC Westminster) and earpieces .

They use earpieces already.

It looks like Piers Morgan gets a repeat at 11pm.
I've just put the promo loop on for the first time on Sky and there's a bit of a stutter every 5 seconds or so where the sound drops and the image jerks. It's not happening on any other channels so I'm assuming that it's a fault their end. I expect there probably isn't going to be anyone monitoring a promo loop over a bank holiday so it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to get fixed.

It's a nice promo.

Getting that issue as well, so think it’s at their end.
Lots of talkRADIO's main presenters have updated their Twitter bios and headers to remove all mention of talkRADIO, and have replaced it with talkTV.

I think the talkradio brand is dead this time next week.

Which makes sense really. Although having a radio station called ‘talkTV’ would be odd in of itself, it easily informs any unaware listeners it’s now a TV channel, and I expect the radio station is now just going pitched as a relay of the TV channel. If anything instead of the video service being known as talkRADIO TV, if they ever have to distinguish the radio station that will now be referred to as talkTV radio. But one brand on the whole makes much more sense.
How about just branding the multi-platform service as "Talk" instead? It says what it does on the tin without radio listeners getting confused by the use of tv in the brand name.

But why would anyone be confused? If you’re listening, you’re not going to be looking at your radio to see if there is a picture. At the same time it’s telling the radio listeners that it’s now on TV. I’d say the value in telling listeners that it’s now on TV outweighs any potential confusion. A the same time calling it just ‘talk’ isn’t very distinctive. That said I’m sure at some point someone will have the bright idea of calling it talkNEWS again.

Do we know if Osbourne will do her show from the UK as I assume she’s usually US based these days? I’m guessing it’s possible she’ll do a Mark Steyn long term.

I think it was reported a couple of months ago that the Osbornes were moving back to the UK (due to California taxes) anyway.

Talk may sound plain to you, but it perfectly describes what it does, which is talkback speech conversation which means you don't have the issue of a brand calling itself a TV station on radio.   Even GB News grasped the concept that having TV in the brand isn't exactly helpful when you're a multi-media product.

But as Talk TV is another right-wing vanity product that will only cater to a minority of echo chamber viewers, they could call it Talk Biscuits and it wouldn't make a mark.

In terms of dropping it into everyday conversation people are always going to be qualifying it by adding adding TV or Radio to the name anyway. Also the term ‘talk’ might make it more difficult to find online.

‘Talk’ wouldn’t tell you it’s a radio station, YouTube channel or a radio station. At least with the added ‘TV’ you know it does telly instantly and then people will know it’s probably got an online presence and they can inform of the radio presence from that starting point.

I know it’s messy but I think it’s the most effective route for this particular product from a marketing point of view, if they don’t want to call it something like talkNEWS or Sun News/talk.
