I think it is time Good Morning Britain had a complete overhaul and revamp and either a regular replacement for Piers or as someone suggested a while back: Susannah at the helm but people feeding off.

I have been off sick the last two weeks and hardly tuned in. At one time it would be on whilst lay in bed.

What. Why? It looks perfectly fine. I don’t understand why people here think GMB (which still looks pretty identical to how it looked at launch to most viewers) is always bordering on a revamp.

I’m not sure I fully agree with the the former statement on needs for overhauls etc. But I do agree with the fact I also used to be regular viewer, but I actually don’t tune in anymore either. I can’t actually put down 100% why that is.

I do think the guest presenter thing isn’t great, because you don’t know what to expect one day to the next. You could get the a more relaxed but awkward, partridge style of Richard Madeley. Or Adil Ray, always looking to crack a gag while trying to provide a serious agenda. On the other hand you’ve got someone like Martin Lewis, who obviously brings a certain focus but also has a more fast paced style. I think unlike the One Show where the presenter doesn’t dictate, ad lib or have a lot of deviation, GMB as it stands focuses a lot on the two presenters with opinion and leading discussion and personal style.

I fully agree about a revamp. The Big desk needs to go and the political Focus that the show has needs to be toned down a Hell of alot. The debate format needs to be toned down too.

These things worked well during the Piers era but I feel they're trying to replucate that with everyone they've had on since Piers left. I'm guessing that the big focus on debates/ Politics is part of the reason why there's still no replacement for Piers a year on. To me, every guest host that has been on so far has tried to be another Piers.

I think the show really needs to move away from the Piers era stuff ASAP to keep it alive (I.e: Less Debate Focused, Less Politics Focused).

I don’t agree I’m afraid. There was a huge array of articles just a few weeks ago marking one year since he flounced out of the studio, for example.

But I suppose his new show- when in starts- will more quickly consign his GMB association to the dustbin

You only have to look at every trailer they put out which is always focussed on clips from the daily government minister interview or the deliberately argumentative debates they have on the show. The rest of the show seems to be treat as filler building up to those moments.

They haven’t moved away from the Piers format though. Piers didn’t invent that you know. Contrary to what some think he didn’t have full creative control over the show.

I think the reality is as a society at the moment so called "politics" is much more central to the conversation - a return to a lightweight format built more around the likes of celebrity culture and human interest stories just wouldn't work in the breakfast slot in the way it used too. Sadly we've kind of lost that innocence at the moment.
