I know this isn't any substitute for a full package, but I did find a clip on TV Ark with a nice hi-fi stereo copy of the closing theme.

I’ve always been on the look out for old Tyne Tees stuff but have only ever got my hands on the 3/4 tracks shared on TVF that I’m sure you have Pete.

That era of NeT was a more orchestral version of the previous package which leads me to believe it wasn’t library unless there was multiple versions.

Yes, i believe it's a re-arrangement of the Network North theme (certainly listening from 14:05 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFRNqShJAys also the start here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXxe8OLvgDs I can hear similarities - incidently the CGI is very early 90s). It *could* still be stock music (the current theme is a re-arrangement of Global Broadcast, whether ITV commissioned it or if it's just stock like the original I don't know)

Incidently, do you have links or soemthing to those files? The ones posted to TVF sadly now lead to a 404 screen.

No the music actually came in in about 1995 with the final Tyne Tees News graphics, which were basically rehashed into NET (I also want this version, obv).

Agreed Network North does sound similar - but indeed it sounded similar to the Tyne Tees Today titles from 1992.

Whilst other regional news tunes from the era have surfaced, sadly Tyne Tees has never. I love the late 80s Northern Life theme too.

Oh I completely forgot about that!

I remember once in primary school a teacher said the word "news" comes from (or even stands for) North, East, West, South. I wonder if she got it from that, or if she just made it up because they have the same four letters.
