Sky News nostalgia

That's a great find and imo the best Sky News era, from 2001 to 2005. 2005 relunch was fun and grand but in a way also the beginning of the end.

From 2001 to 2005 it was Sky at its peak, strong presenters and teams, great visual look and a fab studio with a great newsroom view plus the first real newswall that was used in many different ways. The channel was No1 in ratings and it felt like BBC News 24 was far behind, always trying to copy and catch up. Somehow it all went downhill after 2005 relunch and the way it was dismantled in 2006 and 2007.

I quite liked the 2004/5 theme and presentation they had before the October 2005 revamp. Up until that rebrand of 2005 Sky News was so over the the top, so sensationalist and so... in your face. It was like "look at me, I've got breaking news, a squirrel has farted in a park somewhere! Look at me already!" all day every day.

It has never looked so OTT ever since, so while the 2005 look was less dramatic, it was quite nice. Less sad about World News Tonight with James Rubin the better. But it served to calm Sky News down, even though it'll probably never hit the heights of 2004 in terms of full blown sensationalism again,
