Standards have definitely slipped at the BBC since 24 years ago. Lack of communication between various BBC departments is to blame for this.
Watching the videos posted on here which have obviously been took from Iplayer on one seems to have noticed that the BBC dog on Iplayer is still the 97 BBC logo and not the new 21 logo. As for the changes itself I agree it might have been better to do it in one go but even the 97 where not instant and took a year or two to be completed as new programs well into 98 still had the old coloured lines logo on end boards and buildings and merchandise where not updated immediately either. There was at that point only Two TV channels and 5 National and one local radio station to update as well so it was a lot easier to do. Now including sounds and Iplayer there are at least 20 different services to update so it going to take time.
There is an element of the BBC being damned if they do and damned if they don’t with the rebrand.
An all guns blazing relaunch like 1997 would attract a huge attack from the main stream media and a gradual low key approach can end up leaving them looking inconsistent and almost lacking confidence in the new brand.
The method they’ve gone with is probably the lesser of the two evils and for TV geeks like us, the giant game of Where’s Wally spotting the new logo popping up is all part of the fun.
We are all assuming that it will kick in first thing this morning, maybe they hanging fire until 7pm?
The transitions look nice, but I do wonder if some people are going to report motion sickness with things moving around so much. Am I right in thinking there is an awful lot more text movement than before?

Indeed. Not
quite the same but even stuff like the changes to presentation around big events. I remember seeing 'standard' ITV promos in November which would suddenly have snowflaked-up variants which would all air from a set date for Christmas. Similar-ish, and always seemed impressively slick; you'd very seldom see a non-festive bit of pres slip through after whatever that year's 'Christmas on the channel starts NOW' date was.
Anyway, I shan't derail the
BBC thread any further...
"Good evening. Dull, grey, cold, miserable - and that's just me. The weather hasn't been great, either."
They should probably have got Children in Need to use the new logo considering it’s the BBC’s flagship event, and it’s going to be all over the corporation over the next month
