Sky News: 2021 Refresh

Looks like that was either end or start of the tape.

News at Ten anchored on location with Sally Lockwood. Gillian Joseph in the studio but was further down the running order for the TOTH sequence.

Not only that, but it seems that they haven't updated the holding animation to the new look:

So you could say they hit some issues...

Slightly off topic from presentation, and don’t want to kick start a boring speculative discussion, but I think it’s perhaps worthy of note that Kay Burley has an interview in The Times today on the subject of “the birthday party that got her suspended from Sky”.

It’s perhaps a surprising choice to drag that whole incident up rather than moving on from it, but I guess it’s a way of getting in the papers.

Also interesting that she has played up approaches from other broadcasters and, as pointed out by the interviewer, chosen to use exactly the same words to deny any interest in defecting to another broadcaster that Susanna Reid used immediately before moving from the BBC to ITV.

I really can’t think where she could go. BBC certainly not, ITV probably not, GB News?

ITV - I could maybe see her going to GMB, possibly as a replacement for Piers Morgan? I don’t know if a female duo would be a bit radical for them, mind. Or maybe even leaving news altogether - she could easily carry her own afternoon chat show, I think (and I say this as no fan). As for GB News, I’m not convinced she’d go there - wouldn’t be stable enough. Though having said that they could do worse than reunite her with Simon McCoy - indeed I reckon they’d have made a good duo on Sunrise (back to the future…)
<r>"That's at six. We can't wait, hope <I><s></s>you<e></e></I> can't, join us, lots of love, see you later!"</r>
I think it’s fair to say that Kay seems to have lost a lot of the love she had for Sky News. GMB is the obvious choice but there is a vacancy at Breakfast. I wouldn’t rule it out completely given their ‘slightly more maverick than usual for the BBC’ editor.
I’d really be shocked if she got into the BBC. Her style is too pressurised in my opinion. GMB, yes I can almost see it. But I think perhaps she is even too much for that, but if PM isn’t coming back, they may try it.
Completely off topic but for anyone who takes an interest, Qatar Airways promo spots before and after the weather use two mixes of "Brush Strokes" by Jody Jenkins from Audio Network. I found it while listening to ambient instrumental tracks while working (I know, how sad  )

Here it is:

It's a nice piece of music. I've heard it on Qatar Airways adverts on CNN. They sponsor some of their weather updates too.

Good find! Brush Strokes 9 (Sting) 3381/24 to be exact... the full thing for the opening bumper and dipped at about 3 second for the closing bumper.

I would rule it out; why would a woman in her seventh decade - and on more money than the current female presenters on that programme - move up north from her current cosy southern set-up?

A) Not everyone is solely motivated by money.
B) People relocate for work all the time. I’ve done it twice in the past 2 years.
C) She is from “up north”.
She'd fit in well at GMB should Susanna move on but couldn't imagine her on Breakfast. Her best bet is probably just to ride it out on Sky News.

Vivien Creegor?

Looks like we have the first slight tweak to the graphics today (the smallest you could get, but a tweak nonetheless), any use of 'Live' is now capitalised, so the split screen and indictor strap are now 'LIVE' rather than 'Live'.

Personally, I preferred the sentence case version since it fits in with the overall style of using Sky Text in sentence case, but maybe the idea was to make it stand out a little more. Other tags like 'Pictures' and 'Replay' remain as they were.

Another note as I took these screenshots is the YouTube feed seems to have the rewind disabled, only able to be viewed live.
