In my eyes, I think the BBC logo works better if they just get rid of the letters and have only the 3 blocks on display. The public will already associate those blocks with the BBC since the lettering would still be lost if they were still there.
I'm pretty much unable to get the survey on Swagbucks, the many times I've been looking through 5-7 minute surveys but not one of them mentioning TV channels, mostly just gubbins I really don't care about. But I guess that's the point, they're not looking for geeks seeing their sneak peaks at the look.

I feel a little like I'm missing out, but it was interesting to see nonetheless. The app icons follow a three-block motif, though only Sounds seemed to have the (new) BBC logo as part of the icon.

I’d like to check the survey for myself. What’s the link for it, or is this confidential? If you sign up to Swagbucks, it should be the first 6 minute survey in the list. Well I've finally done the survey and while it's not perfect, I do really like the direction they seem to be going in. To me the icons all made sense - particularly BBC News. How they've managed to do a world map in three blocks and pulled it off. Well done that man or woman!
Clearly they've been drip feeding us with the colours for a while.

It's meant to be a world map? I thought it was supposed to be speech bubbles.
I think there's a problem with introducing textless logos for the BBC's sub-brands before the symbols themselves are well-known. You look at other brands that don't have any text, like Nike, Audi, Apple, Twitter, etc., and their logos all began life with the name included until the logo became synonymous. I just don't think it works if you try to do it the other way around, as the symbols don't mean anything to anyone yet.

Mmm, it does sound like they're testing different applications of the icons on different users. I was asked to click on where you'd expect to find BBC Bitesize on the mockup BBC Food page – and the icons at the top had no accompanying text. I also was shown some Google results, but it was the BBC logo with the sport icon... which initially I thought was an icon for business, given it looks like a bar chart.
