New BBC Logo
Just think it’s weird they’re using this on a publicly available - albeit beta - app, when it’s not supposed to be launched until October!

I would imagine the only thing changing for CBBC (it has a perfect logo already for this new style of branding) will be the Reith BBC logo being added. Not sure about CBeebies but I don't see their logo changing (apart from the new BBC replacing the old one) but you never know. I never thought they would change the iPlayer logo to what they appear to be changing it to.

  • CBBC --> BBC Kids
  • CBeebies --> BBC Junior
  • BBC iPlayer --> BBC Select

Two of those propose rename are interesting, as both BBC Kids and BBC select are already seen in the BBC overseas services.

It already HAS launched, it's just not being used in the UK yet. Two services, one in America, the other in Australia, already have the new logo.

Yet, in most overseas services that BBC have, they still using the current logo. The rebranding i suspect will be more gradual than the BBC UK services as there are too many BBC International channels worldwide, even plenty of them will still use the current logo.
Above all, what I expect from this forthcoming rebrand is this: a uniform identity across all channels and services, because in recent years, the brands of the BBC have been all over the place, and hopefully a full rebrand can get the branding in line again. (similar to the 1997 rebrand)

Thanks just done this, interesting way of using the blocks, I might like this when/if it is launched.
I would not be surprised to see if the upcoming rebranding of all BBC channels and services will come with much more negative opinions than already see, even many of them will spread the negative feeling of the rebrand to mainstream press (see Daily Mail and others) accusing the Beeb for costing much licence fee to rebrand itself.

Different to the previous 1997 rebrand, i believe this rebrand will see more negative comments of it on the internet because the internet is still infancy 24 years ago and no one knows if the rebranding will be happened at the time.
Joined Swagbucks in order to do this survey but I just can't find it, has it already expired? Is it on the Gold Surveys page? Or it's on the Peanut Labs page? Where is it?
Just carried out the survey and it is very minimalist. Quite like the BBC logo animation and how that moves. Nice promo endboard too.

Really not keen on the block like logos they have for the brands. My first thoughts were Office 365 and this episode of W1A: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOZmxz-cYmI

If you're familiar with the BBC brands/colours it would be easy to guess which is which (apart from one of them), but for anyone else it wouldn't be so good.
They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines
Really is quite hideous in red. The scaling will always look off. The animation looks nice though.

Perhaps they should have explored that further, perhaps with the B B C letting above them set free from their boxes.
@Brekkietweets
The logo remains really odd to look at but I really do like what's being done with the blocks as a motif so it's a mixed bag but definitely not against the rebrand as I was earlier.

Logo remains really poor because the letters are too small for the blocks and the spacing between the blocks only makes it that much more obvious but I think maybe they designed it so it could be easily recreated. Might be a very flexible identity, I'm cautiously optimistic!
The more I'm seeing of this, the more I like it. Think it'll take a bit of time to get used to the new logo, but the general concensous for some time has been that the BBC has needed to get back a bit of consistency and cohesion in its design again and this looks to be providing it.

I really like those logos using the three blocks, the weather and Bitesize ones are quite clever and the iPlayer one is a nice reference to the current logo. I know some didn't like to see the BBC logo in anything other than black or white and didn't like the all-pink iPlayer logo when it came in (which clearly now was a pre-cursor to this) but I think it works quite well.

All looking quite positive, which is a big difference to my first reaction when seeing the new version of the blocks.

No chance they'd rename such widely-known and well-loved brands as CBeebies or iPlayer.

I hope this isn't in breach of any rules, but I was wondering the same thing. None of the surveys on Swagbucks seem to identify what the survey is about. Is anyone allowed to give some kind of pointer?

I answered a 6 minute survey which asked about logos for BBC News and BBC Sport and how recognisable they are as app icons.
