Is this via satellite then? Or internet? Bit of a newbie here but fascinated by the tech! Any explanations gratefully received!

Anylive is fibre (sometimes backed-up by satellite). Pretty much every big events venue, stadium (EFL League 2 and higher), etc. in the UK is on the network which means it can be linked to broadcast facilities (BBC, Sky, BT, RTE, IMG...): more info here. Note the map isn't completely accurate and there are endpoints on the network which aren't listed.

Thanks for this! I knew that places like Parliament (or College Green) had a facility to plug in directly to the Control Rooms but didn't think about stadia and other large places having such an option. I suppose it's more reliable than satellite, and presumably permanently connected to the network.

Stereophonics came on just after 8pm, so it's about 45 minutes delayed. That is pretty standard for music gigs though - most of the Glastonbury "Live" coverage is similarly delayed, partly just in case they need to censor or if it needs to be edited to fit the slot, but often at the request of the act who want those there to be the only ones to genuinely expeirence it as it happens.

Quite surprised Tom Jones wasn't referred to at all in the BBC billings for this as that's kind of been the selling point of this event (originally it was for this 80th, but delayed due to covid).

Just caught a glimpse of the saxaphonists watch showing 2145 (at 2210!), not too far behind the reality then!!! Would have liked to see a bit more of Tom's performance too!

In previous years I believe the main path was satellite with the reserve over IP. This year... I've no idea.

Good show. When the BBC do this sort of stuff well, they really do nail it. In light of this, the Jubilee Concert and of course yesterday's news, I'd love to see more of this on the Beeb.

Yes, noticed that in the printed guide.  Surprised Wales weren't able to just take Catchpoint and Pointless as originally scheduled to keep things simpler given it's not unheard of for the nations to occasionally air shows slightly ahead of network.

Of course, the other amusing thing about it is that the programme Wales moved to BBC2 was a BBC Wales production.
