Eddie Mair to retire, confirmed by Global. Some articles online suggesting the cutting of his show by 1 hour to make way for Andrew Marr was part of his frustrations. Could this leave a potential high profile opening for Maitlis & Sopel, or perhaps a. space to move other talent to to make way for them?

I doubt that the cutting by an hour had a significant impact since during the Nigel Farage era his show was always 2 hours finishing at 6pm. Intriguing to see how a double headed programme would work as that hasn't seemed to be LBC's style in recent years.

I'd be inclined to think Marr is part of Global's plan to eventually fill the gap. Marr's programme is getting better, and finding its feet, he seems to be finally learning you don't need to shout on the radio !

Indeed. Totally forgot myself that the slot was previously 2 hours, and just blocked out the presenter he had to hand over to at 6pm

I'm starting to wonder if LBC is looking to go down the talkTV route and become a TV channel having signed Sopel, Maitlis and Marr?
