They could have done it at Global which also has many household names, but ITV and Global are arguably bigger rivals then the BBC and ITV, as there is competition for advertising spend.

Global and ITV are not rivals. I would know that as I work there.

Apart from both needing to target the lucrative and often difficult to reach 16-34 audience, just through different mediums… I would have said that pretty firmly sets them up as ‘rivals’ to be honest. In fact, I’d say that was pretty key, but then again I don’t work there…

I was under the impression they weren't rivals as such? As mentioned they recently collaborated on Concert for Ukraine and IIRC before Heart North West there was Real Radio which was owned by Global before rebranding and regularly had Tony Morris trail what was on that night's Granada Reports on ITV

I wasn’t trying to make a point that Global and ITV are explicit rivals, but that in theory giving a bit of free promotion to a BBC Radio station actually would make more sense than doing so to another commercial entity. The main point I was trying to get across is Radio 1 isn’t really competition in anyway to SNT or ITV.

As it happens I don’t think they’d have any problems doing the same prank with the household names on Capital & Heart, although I’d imagine they’d leave LBC News and Classic FM alone.
Thought Steve Coogan - sorry, I mean, Alan Partridge - was terrific last night.

My favourite moments had to be his bewilderment at being pushed onto the stage in the plane before the 'Happiest Minute of the Week' and the comment: "Stephen Mulhern - say what you like about him, but his availability is second to none."
"Good evening. Dull, grey, cold, miserable - and that's just me. The weather hasn't been great, either."
On the singalong thing is there anything to stop the home contestants 'cheating'?

They could easily probably just have someone load up the lyrics to the song by the time Ant and Dec have announced what it is and had a chat with the band! (I couldn't quite work out if they had tried to do just that in the first household last night as a phone was thrown around a bit Big Grin)
TV Zone are reporting that this weekend’s final episode will feature Ant and Dec take part in the Ant vs Dec instalment outside Television Centre, in and around the iconic Helios, which is at the centre of Television Centre.

Audience tickets are available from the Applause Store for this part of the show, so it will be interesting to see what they have up their sleeves, unless it’s Ant and Dec scaling the building or even something similar to this:

Tonight’s Ant Vs Dec seems to be very similar to something I once saw Jeremy Clarkson and co do during their Top Gear Live tour show, racing vehicles made with household appliances.
Sponsored by Virgin Media (which explains why the race was so slow!) #ad
They're both women and that trumps regionality; ITV guidelines
