The Saint and Greavsie was a weekend staple in our house.

RIP Jimmy.

I'm so sorry to hear of his death, obviously his career happened long before he was born, but I stumbled on a recording of an episode of his self-titled talk show from 1987 on Neil Miles' youtube channel, and I liked his humour, so yeah may he RIP and my condolences to hs family and friends

I wasn't big into football, but I loved the chemistry between Saint and Greavsie every Saturday afternoon.

I'm sure Jimmy is saying once again to Ian "football is a funny old game"

Don't really watch football that much, but R.I.P to the legend that is Jimmy. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

Wasn't he also TV-am's TV reviewer?

Jimmy Greaves has died - Fanoftv - 19-09-2021

RIP Jimmy!
I have vague memories of the family watching Saints & Greavsie when I was a little boy, but have memories of him appearing on programmes such as Fantasy Football and They Think it’s all Over, where he always seemed up for a laugh.

Yes! I actually saw one from during the world cup 86 where he was having to review a film that was being shown at the same time as an England match. He clearly wasn't urging people to watch the film.

A sad day indeed.
There's a retrospective doco on BT Sport Film if you're a subscriber.
It's been available for a year or so which is well worth watching even if you're not a footy fan.

Here he is on TV-am in 1988 bemoaning an apparent bugbear of viewers of the number of repeats on TV:

But there was a time where he went off on one on TV-am the previous year in retrospect of the "Great Storm" of 1987 about how useless the Met Office was:

But of course Saint & Greavsie will probably be his best known contribution to TV (this taken from a DVD game but they found a title sequence and music bed from somewhere for it, which was nice):

Saint and Greavesie was on at a time when football was not the all-conquering behemoth that it is now and that sports coverage was more balanced. Looking back now I think that Ian and Jimmy were the forerunners of the likes of Jeff Stelling, Sid Waddell and Eddie Hemmings mixing humour and analysis and for that we have them to thank.RIP Jimmy

Greavsie basically predicting the launch of ITV4 which shows The Professionals and The Sweeney on a loop!

I'm more impressed that they recreated the set
