The trouble is this affects HD, not SD.

Virgin have replaced the national BBC One HD service with the regional versions. It's also called "BBC ONE HD" and is assigned to channel 108 on the EPG, and it's currently linked to the old national video stream instead of the new regional ones, but as they have different DVB service ID's from the original service the STB's interpret it as being a new different channel.

Are you on TV360 or TiVo/V6 software? What you've described sounds like TV360 behavour. The TiVo & V6 platform's SL's carried on and shouldn't have been affected by the new channel-IDs.

There were some on-screen announcements and a few posts on the VM forums.

The changes in Scotland (which I should add, were apparently by accident after Virgin failed to follow simple instructions and the Nations staff just quit while they were ahead) affected me on a V6 box too. I've not switched to 360 yet, my aunt has it but I don't think she records enough to discover if its an issue (she's only just got the hang of pausing it).

It's my understanding that the ITV HD regions on Virgin match the regions on Sky. I believe they were switched over shortly after the regions launched on Sky.

To the best of my knowledge Virgin doesn't serve the Border Scotland area, but don't hold me to that.

I'm trying to work out how Virgin source ITV's HD regions. Bear in mind that all the regions and sub-regions exist as native HD playout chains at Chiswick and Leeds, (and have for some time ?) so the 'proper' method would be for Virgin to take them in 'baseband' form directly from there ?
However, it might seem that as the regions only appeared on Virgin around the same time they did on satellite, that they are taken 'off air' ?

It will be interesting to see whether the appropriate native HD BBC regions really do appear on Virgin this week !

IIRC Virgin redid their TV distribution architecture about a decade ago, removing the legacy NTL/CW/Telewest differences and the three super headends, centralising everything at Langley and sending everything out as IP to the local headends.There was a very detailed The Register article where they took a tour but I can't find it now.

So, presumably, not that hard at all for Virgin to get feeds from Technicolour or whoever it is now.
