Because, (and a prime example is this very thread) people seize on any quoted date as an unmovable and gospel object, and refuse to have their expectations lowered.

Given the severe logistics and supply problems for electronics (not to mention a far from stabilised Covid situation) it would be foolish to quote concrete dates

Freeview last

It's very platform and region agnostic. I can't see most people upstanding what an IP connected platform is.

I suspect a lot of regions are going to be upscaled, not full HD. But maybe they won't want to mention that.

Well I watched it on laptop would it tell you there? I think it was SD as the bbc logo with the C not quite where it should be.

Platform neutrality hasn't existed for years with the BBC, there's no BBC TWO NI HD on satellite despite the other 3 nations having their HD services made avbailable.

Right click in the middle of the screen. I've done it for you, 960x540, so in the so called q(uarter)HD resolution.

As Leeds are still using an SD infrastructure, then it's upscaled. However, you can't magic up native detail that doesn't exist (obvs) but it may well look better than watching SD on Freeview or Satellite

Also aren't there many parts of the UK that can't receive BBC4, CBeebies and News in HD on Freeview which would arguably fall under that too.

I can't actually find much about BBC platform neutrality other than old articles about BBC iPlayer but I'd have thought it would apply more to access to content as opposed to picture quality, and of course the regional news remains very much available in SD.
