What? Is NBC News Now going to be a satellite or even free-to-air channel in the UK? Even in the U.S. NBC News Now is only a streaming channel.
Presumably it'll be on Sky owned capacity on Astra?

They might as well add it to NOW as well.
I thought that NBC already has a news channel, isn't that MSNBC?

MSNBC is news and debate with a liberal skew, which is on pay tv linear outlets and streaming services.

NBC News Now in the US is a streaming rolling news channel through apps.
I suppose this is no different to Sky's former owners News Corp bringing over the Fox News Channel, over 20 years ago now. Like FNC, I assume this would just be a simulcast of the US service? Seems pointless to have a dedicated UK version when Sky News has the same owner.
I wouldn't write it off as just an afterthought. NBC News Now is perhaps my favorite US-based news channel right now. NBC's ultimate goal is to grow News Now to have the same amount of staffing and resources as MSNBC in the next 2-3 years. Unlike MSNBC, they mostly stick to doing actual news with a lot of live or as-live shots with reporters. NBC also has close to a dozen reporters based in the London bureau right now. News Now is still definitely a product intended for US audiences with a lot of US news, but it's not as insular as MSNBC. It's probably a similar ratio of national-to-international news as Sky News.
Dont forget in addition to MSNBC and NBC NewsNow they also operate NBC LXNews.

Also as part of Peacock they The Choice from MSNBC its a streaming political news channel. Mostly punditry streaming with 2 primetime shows.

Rob thanks for posting these so we can see what NBC News Now is and what it's all about.

I think it looks modern and fresh and something different to news channels we already have.

With Comcast owning Sky and already in the process of launching Peacock the NBC brand is slowly but surely making its introduction yet again. I know we have CNBC etc but nothing in the mainstream.

It makes sense on their side, the content is already there and paid for, mix with some UK adverts and you have a 24hr channel. Good business! As long as they follow Ofcoms rules it will be a good addition
For anyone who isn't aware, NBC News Now has always been available in the UK via YouTube and the NBC News website. It's a great channel.

What happens in the ad breaks on Sky? Is it the same breakfiller you get on the online stream?

It's the same breakfiller as the online stream.

It's also on the NBC News app over here as well.
NBC News Now has it's tests on Astra 28.2E encrypted on Sky since about 2 days ago. Does this indicate that it will be behind a paywall once it's launched on the platform.
The channel is now on Sky channel 525. It’s very watchable and feels like a solid addition to the news section. Love the simple graphics style too.
