Apparently he got caught up during the Cuomo investigation. Goodbye and good riddance I say. He ruined CNN. But I am surprised. I never really warmed to his direction of the channel. Yes it had to change because of how people get their news. But this 24/7 politics chat is so boring.
CNN is on air a covering this live. Brian Stelter has disclosed the name of the woman he was involved with on air. Apparently it has come as a shock to all the employees.

This is a shocker, but perhaps it might have a silver lining. Hopefully whoever takes over realises that CNN needs to go back to basics in terms of programming and coverage, on all their channels.

Both of those comments are absolutely on-point. CNN desperately needs to return to its roots. Biased political commentary and agenda-driving was always and remains the domain of Fox News and MSNBC.
CNN's previous success is on unrivalled breaking news coverage.
Hopefully today's news will be the start of a rebuilding for the once venerable global network.

Zucker's leadership wasn't the best for CNN, there has been damage made and I hope the next person wants to bring CNN back to being CNN. Have more news coverage, not just politics (which isn't even lifting the ratings anymore) someone who sees value in CNN International. (And my long-shot hope of CNN pivoting back to Atlanta as much as possible)
It didn't take long for former President Trump to weigh in. Trump and CNN - well Zucker more specifically - certainly did not see eye to eye during his presidency!!!

Without straying political, I've posted this because it has context to the balance of the US news networks currently. Fox News are lauding this up somewhat at the moment.
I didn't initially realise that Ms. Gollust plans to stay on in her role. Surely if he felt it was a resignation issue, that would equally apply to her in a very senior management position.
I don't know the corporate structures that well, but aren't most big corporations quite risk averse when it comes to publicity of this nature. Can't see WarnerMedia wanting to keep her in post as someone so tied to the former regime.
Back to the business side of things, I still can't make sense of the CNN+ offering, especially as some of the content seems to be a normal news format (see Blitzer's new show). I wonder if the resignations will change this project or other strategy.

Couldn't agree more. As I mentioned up-thread, I hope this allows not only CNN domestic, but CNN International also to reset, and return to being a respected news network, not what it is right now.
I can't say I'll hugely miss Zucker. Maybe the channel was feeling a bit stale and did need a bit of impetus before he took over but I don't feel things changed for the better under him. The International channel through no fault of those involved day-to-day is now a shadow of what it once was (and seems to hand over to Domestic anytime anything half significant happens) and the Domestic channel turned into politics & talking heads 24/7 and is not where you tune in these days for a proper news digest.Domestic these days is basically infotainment rather than actual news - see for example their endless MH370 coverage.
CNN very much hitched themselves to the Zucker & Cuomo wagon and now they're paying the price for it and I have no real sympathy for CNN here.
CNN now seems to be heavily relying on the CNN+ streaming platform which I'm still not convinced on. CNN's cable ratings aren't great already and how many of those watching on TV will decide to pay for streaming news & current affairs when a) they are available elsewhere at an often higher quality and often cheaper and b) pay for it ahead of other far more attractive and popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Peacock etc.
And I can't see many of those who aren't watching on TV then stumping up money for a CNN streaming platform. It would've been a wiser idea surely to partner with an existing streaming giant or including CNN+ as an 'add on' for one of those rather than creating yet another new one.

Well just to push back a bit, how many times as the BBC reported on internal matters? Especually at the head of leadership. And you know if they chose not to cover it, the press would have a field day accusing them of hiding it. Like FNC does with their unending scandals. Its a lose, lose situation.
