Speculation only. But seems to be growing. Kay to leave Sky News and move to another broadcaster?

I mean, the cynic in me thinks maybe she was hoping to be released from her contract at Christmas over the lockdown breaking issue. Same with Piers, always pushing it, knowing if he had to leave there’d be other offers.

I just posted over on the old forum that Kay Burley has now removed all references to Sky/Sky News from her Twitter bio. Previously, she proudly displayed "Founding member of Sky News" in her header. I also understand she has removed similar Sky referencing from her Insta page too (tbc).

Of course, it's entirely possible her existing management have asked her to do this for whatever reason.

No, it's much more fun to type Daily Express-style speculative thread titles and comments.

It's just nice that people actually are allowed to speculate in here without being lambasted and shut down with their posts deleted.

As for Kay, it will be interesting to see. My money (all 2p worth) is on a shift to GB News.

GB News does seem likely. If she hadn’t soured her image at the end of 2020, I’d even say a move to GMB might’ve given the show a few of those Piers style viral clips with interviews. But now I’m not sure ITV would take the risk.

Either way, if she does return to Sky News, I doubt it’d be to the breakfast slot.

Trying to play out possible contract negotiations in public could backfire. Kay could easily find herself not on either of Sky nor GB News.

She may of course decide to move away from news all together.

I think the News UK offering is likely to be a more limited streaming service from the information seen so far, but I suspect with Murdochs' involvement there may be a few Sky News alumni behind the scenes, as indeed there are at GB News.


I do think if she does return to Sky News she is better utililsed in the afternoons - even without the events of late last year I don't think the breakfast slot was really benefitting from her hosting it and I think moving forward there is certainly room for a Sunrise revival looking to deliver the news more straight down the line compared to the cosy Breakfast and whatever GMB turns out to be post-Piers.

I’m also suspicious that she will follow in the footsteps of wherever Morgan goes. Their broadcasting styles are more than a bit similar and also possibly too controversial for mainstream.

Could she be being lined up for GMB?..

I just don't think they'll go for an all female line up, and if they did they've people to utilise within the show before bringing in an outsider - most likely Ranvir.

GB News is going to be a lot different I think to what a lot of people on here were expecting when it was first announced.

I can't see her going to ITV, I can't picture it unless there is going to be a radical revamp of GMB.
