Not sure if this has happened in the other regions, but Ian and Amy were not social distancing tonight - the desk is back to being parallel to the walls, with correspondents now standing to the left of the screen (in the corner where they normally put the Christmas Tree, just behind Ian's seat in the socially distanced set-up), rather than the right.

Also something I picked up on, Julia Barthram signed off her report as 'Julia Barthram, North East Tonight', rather than 'Julia Barthram, ITV News'.

Oh?. I wonder if the desk was like that at lunchtime?

No idea, but most likely was. When they tilted the desk to go back to 2 presenters last year, they did it on the Saturday or Sunday, so the weekend bulletins debuted the new layout. I didn't watch them this weekend, so don't know if that's the case here.

To be honest, I preferred that layout for the single-presenter bulletins, as you had the presenter and the screen in the same shot - was just more aethetically pleasing I thought, although the non-distanced layout I prefer for double-headed programmes.

No mention at all on either the Tyne Tees or Border programmes - closest to a mention was that handshake at the end of the TT programme.

Delighted to see the presenters sitting together once again.

I do agree it does feel like “ what Covid?”

I still think the ITV regional news desks are too small for duos. The layout during Covid restrictions have allowed those with large enough sets to use more of the set with a wider angle, where as you look at TT&B tonight and it's back to a dull tight shot of the duo.

Yeah, I've always felt they're a bit too close for comfort (which i felt was also a problem with the national news). I think they should've been made a few inches wider.

Worth noting that they are still social distancing in Granada Reports. Unsure of other regions.

Same for ITV News West Country which has better camera angles because of it.
