What is your favourite news intro?

Mine would be The Situation Room, because although it’s quite dramatic, it’s very attention-grabbing and authoritative:

The ill fated 60 Minutes Intro from the 80's

The 1989 BBC Nine O'Clock News intro

These are my favourite ones

But the 1988 BBC Nine O'Clock News is a very close second, and the third for me are the 1999 BBC News intros, the early beeps
The Triple F for me. (Flying Fish Fingers).
For me nothing beats the original 'The World Today.

Indeed. You’re right. That’s a nice long outro in that particular clip above.

IIRC, it was quite rare for Nisha to appear on TWT.

I personally am a big fan of the GMB setup from January-March 2020 (and now back from July this year) - it feels fresh, engaging and authoritative.

Think they do need to bring back ‘this is the world you’re waking up to’ though!

Always loved the Sky News intro that they used (in various variations) from 2007-2009. Brilliant music, authoritative, and the wide shot of the studio with the 'Voice of God' announcement is perfect. https://youtu.be/fyHh3D73E4g
For me, already mentioned here are the BBC 9 o'clock News (1988), Breakfast News (and the virtual studio era, 1993), News 24/World's Flags (1997) and Meridian Tonight (1996).

New additions:
BBC Look East (1993): The symbol accompanies the slanted masterbrand nicely and neatly. Also like the glass panels design.

Yorkshire Calendar (1989): Grand arrangement of the startup tune, nice formup with the letters, and just always thought its 1992 successor looks like a mint.

Central News (1991): Upbeat tune and the unique C icon makes it stands out from other Central News intros.

Thames News (1988-92) to London Tonight (1993-1999): Not too fond on the graphics, but all of them have great soundtracks.

Sky News (Tombstone, 1996): The 1996 rearrangenent is more majestic, and I just like Sky's tombstone era in general.

Crikey! I've missed one of my ultimate daily faves! Before ITN switched to an open board we were treated to that incredible authoritative logo (blue and gold) and the atrium swoop. Always live until Studio 5 was revamped with that awful opal shaped desk for which I will never forgive . ;-) - My selection also features the fabulous and beloved late Carol Barnes.

You all missed the 1999 Spotlight titles. Wink
