As BBC DSAT has both Teletext for Sky and DVB for Freesat ..it may be that the cable company
following EC guidance prefers DVB ST ….

I live in England and use Sky. And what exactly is Timed text ?
In my SD digiboxes and I believe in some Virgin media boxes they have subtitles originated in 4:3 and stretched to 16:9
DVB subtitles are meant to be rendered on the glass not as part if the picture …
So different aspect ratios mean less distortion of the font …..
But it did not work out like that in stb ….
Despite not being designed to be aspect ratio tolerant (despite what some say)
It was more tolerant than many fonts
Does the Simpsons have the same subtitles on Sky One and Channel 4 ? I never noticed if they were different if not

I noticed 1983 coming up on last few weeks of episodes so presumably they were done for original transmission .
Given there was a limited amount of programmes subtitled then that would show the importance of Yes, Minster

Yes, they're not verbatim as they would be today. Even less so during Humphrey's speeches.
