That is someone at BBC News overthinking things again. Why would viewers find it confusing? I would say there's too much importance put on who the presenter is. Surely the most important things are the news and that it is factually correct.

More concerned about the politics of things and constrained by ridiculous technological restrictions than doing the right and obvious thing.

It's ridiculous that BBC News couldn't do their nightly 'The Papers' programme at 10.30 last night, just because they had to show the delayed BBC One news bulletin at 10.35.
Considering their reporters on the news channel had been building the anticipatation through the evening of there being more Hancock revelations to come in the Sunday papers, it's frustrating that they had to ditch their usual first look at them in favour of showing BBC One. At least Sky covered it all.

Also last week news channel showed short version of Click so could show a news summary at 12:45, so the same content was shown at 12, 12:45 and 13:00 on the news channel, why not just show full Click and make the bulletin exclusive to BBC1 for one week while different time

During the newsflash (which is on iPlayer), there was a 'Breaking' animation on the newsroom screens. I don't remember having seen that before - thought it looked pretty good.

Those were there on the News Channel when Shaun Ley was on between 7 and 7.30 as well.

Am I right in thinking that when they did start simulcasting the BBC1 bulletins that initially they didn't include the weekend ones due to the variable times/length?

Considering they've made allowances in the week for the 10pm bulletin not airing at 10pm on BBC1 you'd think they would have done similar last night, although they'd have probably needed to take the whole hour from BBC World in the end.

Yes that's right. It's only when the nationals and the News Channel started sharing the same studio they were forced to include the weekend ones.

I can see that if the bulletin is in the bottom half of the hour and the news channel would usually run a pre-recorded programme like Click then it would make sense for that to go out as normal.

For those bulletins where a regional bulletin follows immediately afterwards, then maybe by sharing studio, gallery team and presenter, it might be possible for news channel and BBC One to run what they each need individually. This still might need additional resourcing though to achieve.

At other times there isn't really a solution without additional cost.

I guess they hold it back so rivals can't update their later editions with the story.

I had noticed that the copy of the Matt Hancock front page they were using was a scan rather than a pristine digital copy.

Interesting approach by the Singapore government. They’re going to stop publishing daily stats related to Covid and hospitalization/deaths, in an effort for the State to “learn to live with Covid”. I wonder how the regional and national broadcast news outlets will handle it. No government statistics will lead to speculation on figures, perhaps?

Anyway, will be interesting to see if Singaporean news bulletins will also stop (Or reduce) coverage of covid related news.

MediaCorp in Singapore are state run though aren't they? It's a Benevolent Dictatorship?

I suspect that'll happen in other places including in the UK eventually, I personally think it's a bit unhealthy to be obsessed with the daily data unless you're in Government or a scientist.

With there being a Coronavirus update led by the Prime Minister at 5pm, I wonder if it will be carried on BBC One?

They would have to leave the coverage from Wimbledon 90 mins earlier than billed, but of course the coverage continues over on BBC Two
