I don't understand why the BBC are employing more external staff when there is a redundancy program underway. I do like Sarah though.

I forgot how nice the Reporting Scotland studio looks when it's re-lit for Politics Scotland, Covid Updates etc. Makes a nice change from the usual heavy use of red.

As reported in The Sport Thread, there were issues during a Rangers v Alashkert Europa League play-off game going out on the BBC Scotland channel. The output cut to the Reporting Scotland studio.

Looks like some technical rehearsals were going on.

Looks like Rebecca Curran is set to go off on maternity leave in the near future - BBC Scotland is looking for a 12 month stand-in host for The Nine.

No STV News at six ( North) due to technical issues.

Ian Payne flying solo on ITV News Lookaround tonight. No idea why, nor what's going on over at Tyne Tees (which may or may not explain it).

Issues with the STV Central late bulletin tonight, Sophie Wallace started as normal, then got a message in her ear and started fiddling with her mic. It then switched to the STV North feed.

Looks like Central has been pre-recorded (possibly due to Scotland Tonight using the studio) and the wrong take has been cued up.

Tonight’s Reporting Scotland bulletin came from a CSO backdrop?

The whole ITV Border region showed Nicola Sturgeon's address regarding Omicron etc at 6pm, which lasted about 6½ minutes or so.

The end of her statement then mixed straight into an ITV ident and announcement into a belated (and therefore shortened) Lookaround, which is understandably the live region tonight due to the impact of the First Minister's address on the schedule.

I presume that the same happened with STV News?

Why would BBC Scotland choose not to show it at 18.30 and then analyse and reflect on it on Reporting Scotland?

They basically did it in reverse. Alluded to some of what was in it during Reporting Scotland, including showing a short excerpt from it, and explaining that it would be shown in full after the bulletin.

Kind of a case of analysing something *before* the viewers have seen the actual thing in full. Which is a bit weird.

It probably would've been even weirder for the Six presenter's throw to the regions to be immediately followed by something that isn't the regional news, though.

True, but they could have opted out after the weather, possibly arranged with Studio E for the weather presenter to do a generic close rather than hand back to the presenter by name.

The top story on Lookaround tonight was a report by ITV West Country correspondent Robert Murphy.

It was regarding the arrest of man who committed a sexual offence over 30 years ago in Cheltenham, but now lives in Cumbria.

Although the Lookaround studio presenters framed the item with the emphasis on the man now being a Cumbrian resident, this detail only got a cursory mention in the otherwise very Cheltenham-centric report package.
