For anyone with an interest in BBC TV News history, I recommend getting the DVD “50 Years of BBC Television News” from 2004. It has some clips that aren’t available elsewhere (like a JFK death bulletin). It features five programmes covering the history, and an additional three programmes on how the news was made in 1953, 1963 and 2004.
I have nothing to add just now, but wanted to say what a great idea for a thread this is.

* Believe it or not, this is actually how the BBC spelt Moira's name on the sleeve cover of my copy of their own DVD............
Probably very loosely related here, but this video does contain some of the BBC TVC newsroom, gallery and N8 studio from after the News Channel had left there in late March 2013.
Considering the titles and filler loop appear to be loaded, it appears to be from the period where the studios were kept on standby, incase of a massive technical failure at NBH.
