I have no sympathy for her. She was laughing and joking at a time when our lives were being ripped apart and she got what she deserved.

I am in two minds about her, clearly she was just a messenger and her nervous laughter perhaps indicates she thought it wasn't something that should have happened. I would expect more heads to roll if the issue is truly going to be dealt with. Whatever the ins and outs of the mock press conference, it feels unfair that she should be made to face it alone.

Does anyone think this may have just been on a feed and picked up by someone in one of the broadcasters? so not really a leak as such. Perhaps it wasn't seen as relevant at the time and just happened to be recored as part of a test of some sort.

Here's for something more mockery about all of this.

Well the news yesterday saw both Politics Live coverage of PMQs and Peston double their usual audience - although the audience for PMQs probably shows why these daily press conferences were a non-starter in the first place.

It seems to have been taken off a screen (probably by a mobile phone) given the jaunty off beam angle of the pictures.
At least who ever did had the foresight to hold their phone in landscape and not portrait !

Paul spoke to Radio 4 yesterday. He wouldn't say if it was filmed off a screen (I think it's pretty obvious though). The way he's speaking doesn't make it seem it was available to all and just picked up, although he wouldn't say outright.

It was a rehearsal before the whole concept was canned before launch, so it would be very unlikely the broadcasters would have a feed. Given that they weren't cancelled until the following April, this was an early rehersal.

Worth remembering we went into a three month lockdown after Christmas so that might account for the delay between the rehearsal and the first sighting of the briefing room not being for another three months. Of course they had a perfectly adequate room for such briefings which was used instead.

Because famously, laughing and joking with your work colleagues has been forbidden for the past 2 years.

Honestly think it’s ridiculous she’s been scapegoated like this.
