Based on the cameras they installed it isn't UHD nor is it particularly modern!

Sony BRCs, yes I don't think there are any UHD models in that range? Unlike the Panny '150' family? If there's ever a real trade show again, my first port of call are the folks that built that facility, I'm mystified by what's been provided
Edit: Sony X400, that's UHD, but it's not what's in the photos

Indeed - it's a bit baffling what they've ended up with! I heard a rumour that they hadn't even bought the cameras new, they'd come out of a hire fleet...
Possibly the most visible and despicable waste of funds to date....and yet nobody/entity is accountable. I'm not wanting this to get political but come on - there has to be accountability!
It's mind-blowing that there is no account for it? It's a huge amount of money!
A friend at ITN has told me they've set up a full blown studio for close to 120k. This is not to dug deep!

120k sounds very low. Depends how many cameras? for broadcast even a modest low end system would be 20 to 30 ish k per camera channel (Lens, Camera, Pedestal, viewfinder, CCU, OCP)
For a resonably complex studio build you'd be expecting just the engineering design and commissioning plus wiring services and materials (cable, connectors etc) to be 120k.
That's before you've bought any actual kit.

spoke to a sky broadcast engineer and he said they're not even using those remote cameras yet.. they're still using cameramen either from sky,itn or bbc to manually operate them for the pool feed, as well as being two other cameras which belong to Downing Street. those ones are used for the zoom, as well as the official No.10 social media channels

Well, I did wonder, because all the lip sync and non matched racking from the 'old' room seems to still exist in the 'new' room. So, we can deduce possibly all that's ever been used in anger so far is (perhaps !) the lighting rig ?

And the sound from the lecterns.

sound is sooo compressed and crunchy?
Whilst Matt Hancock was framed perfectly in the centre-centre of shot last evening, it irritates the hell out of me that the flags, lectern and blue backdrop are all off-centre behind him. I know it's been mentioned before, but what the heck.....?
And the head-on shot of Doctor Jenny Harries was pathetic: a partially obscured shot with 30% of a plasma screen showing off to her right, and most of the text on said screen (a viewer's question) missing from shot.
Seems that we've spent millions in producing a decent looking set-up only to operationally stuff it up with shoddy production/framing every time it goes to air.

They need to farm out the 'event' to a proper TV production outfit, to manage, and err..produce, that's what the political parties, TUC, CBI, etc do (or did pre covid !) for their annual conferences

Makes you wonder about the security in Government buildings, with this and the infamous Hancock video getting leaked.

Isn't that Allegra Stratton, the same Allegra Stratton who was employed by ITV News a few weeks earlier ?
