Quite interesting, but I suppose it's their version of having the reporter next to one of the side screens in the other regions.

As an aside, why is the clip 'owned by' someone. Surely it's owned by ITN/ITV plc.

ITV London have used that virtual template before for news stories.

WGNO (Nexstar) is showing ABC network programming.

So far, considering the grim forecasts for Ida in New Orleans & the track being so close, just to the West of NOLA right now leading to a complete blackout of Orleans Parish, the county the Crescent City is in, it seems the TV stations for the most part are managing pretty well not having to move outside the market for safety reasons. Having said that, WVUE (FOX) has had power knocked out somewhat as they're having to rely on an app called RadarScope ocassionally for tracking the hurricane & just in the last hour, WGNO (ABC) had to evacuate ppl in the control room because the ceiling in the studio is peeling away....

THe entire power system has failed in New Orleans the city currently has no power which is effecting the pumps that keep the city dry. Its going to be a scary night for the citizens. These local stations have great value in situations like these. Its not worth watching the networks because they dont know the city, they dont know the officials, they dont know the streets and roads and what areas are likely to flood versus others. So watching CNN or MSNBC, BBC, SkyNews or even the Weather Channel....you are not getting the full picture of whats actually happening. These local stations are literally saving citizens lives with the information being disseminated. Many of the radio stations have turned their signals over to simulcast the coverage from the local tv stations with 24 hour nonstop live coverage. If you've never watched a local American tv news and you are also super critical, watching these journalists do their jobs with no autocue with their lives in danger is worth seeing. Yeah sometimes local stations can be a bit flashy-dashy, but when they get to WORK.....they get to WORK and you have to marvel at their value to the regions and markets they serve.

2 days out after Ida's passed, despite most in New Orleans still with no power, stations are starting to get back to some form of normalcy with WGNO (ABC), WWL (CBS), & WDSU (NBC) back to airing reg. network programming (sans local news conferences & daytime local storm aftermath coverage). WVUE (FOX), relocated on Monday, due to a power outage at the station, to sister Gray-owned station WAFB out of nearby Baton Rouge, although as of Tuesday night, they're back in NO with power returning to their studio & is still doing wall-to-wall coverage....

Just to mention that I liked Sarah Keith-Lucas on Breakfast this morning, on an outside broadcast from St Peter Mancroft Church in Norwich, announcing she was at St Peter Cockroft Church. Happy memories of a former colleague.

Who’s the lady doing the weather on the News Channel this afternoon? Have never seen her before............

I miss the more colourful weather map we got with 1997's BBC News 24, which was not used for the National News.

Assuming you mean at just before 17:00 GMT, it was Carol Kirkwood, usually seen on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 2 Breakfast.
Bit odd looking back through the iPlayer stream that Stav Danaos was on at 16:30 and Tomasz Schafernaker on every bulletin afterwards, so not sure why Carol turned up once in the afternoon.
