It may have been mentioned elsewhere but did anyone else hear the quite audible whispering of what I assume to be Huw when the band started playing? One minor glitch in what was superb coverage.
Re. The question about window or TV screen, I too am also surprised when people assume a real backdrop is more complex than a screen, however as someone who works in the industry I am still often perplexed as to the insistence on always having studio teams on site rather than back in the studio. Especially in the current Covid world with all the logistical challenges described.
I know them 'being there' adds a certain something but I'm not sure we'd lose a great deal if they weren't.
10.6m is really impressive considering that the day of Prince Philip's death coverage didn't do well but it does show that keeping coverage in moderation is better than swamping the schedule.
You say in moderation, but the coverage did still run in one form or another for about 11 hours or 7 hours if you exclude Breakfast

Is that Eve Pollard in the hot seat at the desk? Could have been interesting if the line suddenly failed and Eve had to step in as acting Newscaster.

Isn't it that Pollard was sat there as she was appearing as a guest, and Lucrezia was the standby presenter?

This is something I was thinking about yesterday while watching the coverage. See also, Sky News Radio & Global’s national bulletins coming from Windsor, doesn’t this add even less than TV coverage being on site!

I did wonder where they were based, mainly because the green screen looked faultless and I thought that was quite an ask for a temporary setup within Windsor itself. Again, the ITV News set up is showing itself to be my favourite.
I notice a screen at the bottom of her first picture. Is she sat at a different desk to the one the guests are at? I’m not quite across how it works, but is one London’s setup and the other national?

Yes - the ITV London desk is smaller and lower than the main ITV News desk, and is situated opposite in the studio. As far as I can see, the guests are sat at the larger, main ITV News desk and Lucrezia was sat at the smaller ITV London desk.

She's sat at the desk used for the lunchtime news and the London news (Lower in like with the other regional desks - any idea why it's so low? I imagine it'd not be all that comfortable). The guests are at the evening news and late news/news at ten desk.
It sounds like ITV had a very resilient plan. If they'd lost the link to Tom and Julie, Lucrezia would have been able to pick up easily with the same contributors. I wonder what the BBC and Sky's plan B was.
In terms of the benefits of presenting on location, I guess journalism has always been about bringing us important events from where they're happening.
Granted, the pandemic has taken away some of the benefits - for example, guests involved in the events being able to drift in and out of the studio. But I don't think the ability to put up a convincing video feed of a location behind presenters based elsewhere is a reason not to do it.

Sky will have had a presenter in the Glass Box all day, as is the case for any OB-led presentation. They would also have been able to use the positions on Castle Hill and outside King Henry VIII Gate if the Castle Studio failed.

There was something faintly after the ceremony too as they were walking back up from the chapel - a barely audible female voice which I assumed to be a director.

I expected audience figures to be a fair bit lower, given how nice the weather was and it being the first Saturday of the easing of lockdown restrictions. It did very well indeed.
