Surprising, but it is also quite an odd archive channel that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the organisation.
I guess this means they couldn't get a Freeview slot for when Com7 closes and didn't see it as viable without one.

A real shame as they have some gems on there. Highlights what a farce closing COM7 with no future plan is.
Freesports is the other significant channel affected so be interesting to see what happens there - if it goes Sky/Cable only wouldn't be surprised if it became Premier Sports 3, though their recent UEFA rights deal suggests a free to air outlet for some games.

When it first launched, the archive content was only a part of it and was military themed (Hogan's Heroes, F Troop, Get Some In, Gomer Pyle USMC etc.), then the military theming got more and more vague (Get Smart, Goodnight Sweetheart, I Dream of Jeannie), then the archive content started taking up more of the channel, and then even the most tenuous of military links in the archive content vanished entirely and it basically became mostly 70s and 80s ITV sitcoms.

I wonder if some of the programming will be picked by That's TV at some point? As they've picked up a few things lately (Harry Enfield, Rik Mayall Presents) etc.

Both their channels are on COM7 too though so due to close, reducing them back to the local network.

Sad news. I've been enjoying their classic sitcoms. It was only last week when a new programme was added, the very underrated Hot Metal.

aww I loved watching "Watching" on this recently from start to finish and Citizen Smith.

It's been nice to see a few completely forgotten sitcoms too - proof that once upon a time ITV were churning them out with the regularity of the BBC too and even though most didn't become classics several got 2 or 3 series out of them.

Itv3 and UKTV gold really ought to stop repeating the same shows ad nauseum.

This would be about time for the likes of Great TV to buy this slot and launch it their own Great TV Gold/Classics.
That's MUCH easier said than done, though

There have been some interesting repeats on there, we particularly liked Worst Week of My Life which is a great series but not repeated anywhere else, (presumably partly because of one of the guest characters in series 2).
Like many archive channels though a lot of the repeats on there were programmes that were nice to watch through novelty or nostalgia value but not necessarily want to endure the whole series. That said Forces had a much better hit rate for me.
It's a shame That's TV is going at the end of the month too, they had some good old shows on too
