A day late, but whatever.
Well, Forces shut down. Sadly I couldn't watch the closedown live, as Forces TV already shut down here in Ireland in late January 2021 (in an email, they told me it was due to “changes in January and broadcasting agreements with the EU”, I presume this has something to do with Brexit) but I gotta say, that was one of the best closedowns I have seen in a very long time. Most TV channels when they shut down nowadays are like “disney channel is now shut down now buy disney plus!” or just shut down immediately with no notice whatsoever. Forces on the other hand actually put EFFORT into their shutdown. The montage, the anthem, the “Don't forget to switch off your TV set”. It was actually quite emotional, why aren't more TV closedowns like this?
I will always remember watching shows like Hogan, Jeannie, Bilko, CHiPs, Father Dear Father, Never The Twain, etc. I wonder how many of those shows are on DVD here? Would love to start a DVD collection of old shows available on Region 2 DVD someday. My local DVD shop carries a few Network DVDs, and I saw shows like Minder and A Touch of Frost available.
