ITV in daytime has been pre-recorded for ages now, usually done by the announcer in peak from last night, but less of a need since the 9.00 to 12.30pm shows flow into each other. I'm sure there's standby annos

Even then I struggle to see how they'd be utilised. We've already seen how they hand straight over to the newsroom in the event of a serious breaking story.

Slightly pleasing (for me, anyway) is it pushed the lunchtime news back to its 'proper time' of 1.30, rather than 1.28. It's only 2 minutes, but still. Similarly with Lingo and (I think) Real Deal.
This is a long shot, but did anyone happen to record the moment when This Morning went off air? Did the presenters make any announcement, or was it during an ad break?
It just went off air during the final ad break, returning with the titles and then the opening of the emergency recorded show as if it was the beginning of the show, followed by them looking back at hugging trees and talking to dull men.
Similarly Loose Women just opened with Nadia saying it was a special "Life before Loose" episode and throwing to a clip of Ruth.
Would these emergency tapes be played out from ITV Playout or direct from TVC. I'd have thought This Morning would have something they could crash into rather than starting it from the beginning.

Something generic like
"You're watching ITV, I'm sorry that we can't [join|go back to]* the This Morning studio at the moment, in the meantime here are Phillip and Holly with some of the show's best bits."
could be used in a multitude of situations.
* two versions, "join" for if the show can't start, "go back to" if it falls off air for any reason.

Believe they went to a break as normal and didn't come back
Yeah, it happened in the break, the emergency programme started when the show should've returned, so a recording would just them going to break, adverts, and then the start of the best bits programme.
It's an excellent standby – it explains that it's a backup, but swiftly gets back into what TM should be doing – entertaining viewers. I don't know what benefit 'crashing into' something else would have?

Does ITV News have some backup studio somewhere in case their main facilities are affected by such an event?
I have to say, This Morning look to have handled that really well today. Makes you wonder what other shows have planned for such circumstances. I remember X Factor running some memorable auditions when there was a live show issue once - I’d guess Saturday Night Takeaway have a similar type of show ready to go too.

To be fair This Morning did very little other than evacuate, it was presentation who did the hard work. It's pretty much standard for live programmes to have a standby available in pres should they fail to get on air or fall off air.
