Broadcast are today reporting that Andrew Neil who called Channel 4 News the TV arm of The Guardian is on the verge of joining them for a weekly politics show.

I can’t see it doing any worse than by other current affairs offering they’d show at the same time. It also might be a of a sweet slot in the schedule, certainly better than a random half hour on a weeknight.

Considering there are some out there who consider Channel 4 News output to be more "left leaning" - then hiring Andrew Neil could be a very good move by Channel 4 News to try and reassure those who feel their news if more "left leaning" and have Andrew there with of course more centre to centre right view point if he so wished to convey.
As Channel 4 News receives no public money unlike the BBC, his move to Channel 4 is a smart one for both broadcaster and Neil.

I don't always agree with Brekkie but I think a Sunday Evening show will struggle ratings wise. Neil was complaining before that the BBC wouldn't give a primetime slot but I suspect there is a very good reason they didn't.

How did his BBC Two show rate at 19:30 on a Wednesday pre-pandemic? That would be the best like-for-like we could have I guess.
