Forum updates - Rob - 29-09-2021
Today marks 6 months since the forum launched. It's fair to say that we've been through a lot in that time. We've covered the death of Prince Philip, the Sky News refresh, the launch of GB News and the (somewhat) endless speculation about the forthcoming BBC rebrand amongst other things.
Setting up and running this forum has been a massive learning curve for me, and I'm very happy with the way things have progressed since we began. It's a shame that there are still some people that want to see me and this forum fall flat on its backside, but they're going to be disappointed when I say that I'm not going anywhere, and I will keep this forum running for as long as I am able to.
A big thank you to my moderation team [mention]DavidWhitfield[/mention], [mention]Ben[/mention], [mention]James Vertigan[/mention] & [mention]Worzel[/mention] for keeping the forum running smoothly when I'm not online. A big thank you to my friend Nick for hosting the forum and stepping in to fix any problems when it all goes wrong (like it did a few weeks ago), but more importantly, a big thank you to YOU. If you weren't here, there'd be no forum.
I'll be raising a glass to the site later this evening, but for now, thank you for your continued support.

Gosh, has it already been six months?
Not quite 'birthday cake' territory just yet.
What's half as good as a birthday cake? A packet of custard creams? A Twix? A bag of those mini doughnuts which always feel incredibly greasy and never have sufficient sugar coating?
I'll think of something.
In any case, thanks go straight back to you, Rob, for your considerable efforts behind the scenes in keeping everything going.

It still feels new to me, but I'm no longer accidently going to TVF before coming over here.
Thanks to Rob and the mods for riding the choppy waters of the last six months, but it's feeling as homely and welcoming as the old place was.

Six months? I only found the site yesterday! Whilst I don’t work in tv I have a life long interest in presentation, channels, idents and all manner of things linked to UK television. I was gutted when the former forum closed in March 2021. I’m an occasional contributor but avid reader and it’s nice to see all the old names here. Thanks for letting me join

Six Months! I have been here for 5 of them. (Inactive from july-september.) But anyway covering the GB news launch was a blast! Same with Sky Showcase and the ongoing chaos with the Channel 4 networks. But the sad parts too like Prince Phillip being dead and Eriksen collapsing. But we have had laughs. Here is to another 6 months with this crew. Also this is like a family on here and that makes me think of tv forum and others that havent came onto this yet. I cant wait :!:

Happy half birthday, TVLF! I wasn't very active in the blue place so I'm already pretty well adjusted to here, hopefully this forums lives on for as long as TV Forum did (maybe even longer!).

Wow, six months in.
So we've had several TV channels launch / relaunch / rebrand, a fire at a transmitter mast, a playout failure. Wow, here I was moving over from TV Forum thinking the first year would be a tad quiet. Also I'm around halfway to reaching my TVF post record.
P.S. Thumbs up and Kudos to [mention]Rob[/mention] for picking up where TVF left off but doing it in a way that makes it, its own beast if that makes sense. In other words the essence of what made TVF is still here and always will be as those who came across as that "core group" of initial members from TVF was there from the beginning but it has evolved into its own site and identity.

I read TV Forum for many years without joining. Then just as I was thinking about it, the closure was announced.
Still then took me months to join here and longer still to actually post. Call me a nervous sort.
