LeFil on Noovoo has launched in Quebec. Overall it looks good. It has a mix of Franceinfo and CBC The National to me. The only major production flaw I saw was the on set screen behind the presenter. Its washed out and has an annoying light glare on it. But over it looks good.

CTV Montreal did a story on Noovo Info's launch on Sunday night. Interesting tidbit - the Noovo Info newsroom is down the hall from the CTV Montreal newsroom. So it looks like Bell is well on its way in integrating Noovo's operations with the rest of Bell Media in Montreal.

Global has probably had one of my favourite looks for the news anywhere in the world over the last decade - brash, but stylish, though they've tinkered with it generally for the worse over the years. CBC usually looks pretty decent too, though CTV lets the side down a bit.

It’s a hybrid national/local bulletin. Noovo does not have a rolling newschannel.

I like a lot of CBC News' pres, especially the 2009 rebrand and the current look of The National. From what I've seen CTV is by far the worst looking station with that awful dated logo and associated pres.

The CBC's 2003 opening theme has to be by far its best in its history in my opinion. Great signature. This was the time period the entire CBC network was rebrand with similar graphics and music to unify the brand and the CBC has done so every time since. I believe this was the time period the BBC went thru is "creamy" colour phase as well.

The theme music has been composed by Quebec musician and producer Stephan Moccio, which has also composed theme tunes for other Bell Media programmes.

Here's a look of how the "regional" editions look like... Actually, they have done a very cost-effective approach, with all editions coming from a centralised studio in Quebec City with Lise-Marie Blais (former anchor for competitor TVA) as presenter. All regional editions are recorded-as-live and feature footage and two-ways from local reporters working for Bell Media's French-speaking radio stations. It is very similar to how Sinclair's controversial and short-lived News Central experiment worked. The Quebec City edition features in-studio debriefs from reporters.

I definitely agree. I don't think CBC has had a much better theme since then. Its such a jam.

CKVR, CTV News Barrie Ontario went HD within the past month. In contrast to the others CTV stations this station isn’t controlled out of Toronto. CTV like the CBC has been moved the production side of their newscasts to their headquarters to streamline costs.

Citytv Toronto has updated its opens and graphics. For several years the broadcasts have gone silent. No music no voiceovers. Well they relaunched with simple music and clean graphics and have added a voiceover and have started again to heavily use their long running "Everywhere!" tagline. I really like it.

I guess the music and graphics will be expanding to the other City stations at some point in the future.

From a theme music point of view, I feel like CBC's The Nation sounds really different from the rest, at least in the post-mansbridge era. kudos to them for doing something that doesn't involve rousing strings or beeps. And i'm still wondering for who composed it. Perhaps In house?
