Holby City to end - Rob - 02-06-2021 Just announced... https://twitter.com/BBCHolbyCity/status/1400032690620018688 Holby City to end after 23 years - WhisperOfCinnamon - 02-06-2021 Just announced by the BBC Press Office: https://twitter.com/bbcpress/status/1400032962901590024 Edit: Rob *just* beat me to it! Holby City to end - johnnyboy - 02-06-2021 I'm sorry for the cast and crew but, hopefully, the BBC will spend the money freed up on something a bit more original than a medical procedural soap opera. Something a little more creative, daring, and boundary pushing when the focus is on the story. Holby City to end - Ash101 - 02-06-2021 A fairly bold move from the BBC, because it does an OK job of filling an hour (or currently 40 minutes) of content each week of the year. I can't quite remember the exact details, but I know when the BBC announced plans to move more productions out of London earlier this year, they committed to 2 or 3 new continuing dramas. Yes, the theory is that Holby's been dropped because it's made in Elstree and the BBC have committed to continuing dramas made in the North of England and the Nations. That's Casualty, I think. Same hospital, but a couple of hundred kilometres apart! Holby City to end - iloveTV1 - 02-06-2021 It’s been rating around 2m for a while now, and the BBC know that a repeat of Garden Rescue is a lot cheaper and will only do slightly worse than that. Holby City to end - Meridian MR - 02-06-2021 https://twitter.com/bbcholbycity/status/1400032692306124801?s=21 Holby City to end - TVViewer256 - 02-06-2021 What an absolutely stupid decision - as far as I can see ratings are still going strong and it's a brilliant show. Why on earth are they cancelling things like Holby and keeping crap such as 'I can see your voice' on air? It just makes absolutely no sense. Holby City to end - Nigel - 02-06-2021 I wonder if the future of Neptune House has anything to do with this? NH stared construction in 1961 and by now must be expensive to maintain/heat. Which other departments are in that building (?),it’s a lot of floor space not necessarily laid out for a modern working environment. Holby City to end - London Lite - 02-06-2021 The soapification of Holby City didn't help either. The older episodes shown on Drama show how good it used to be. |
