If it does return to Australia, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against past series. I assume we should still be prepared for things to feel a little "constrained"? The show is still some months away, but I'd imagine preparation takes months beforehand, so events now might impact what eventually reaches screens - and uncertainty over the location can't help.

I would imagine the NSW Government are counting on the UK cast and crew of IAC being fully vaccinated by the time they come over which is probably be in late October so everyone can quarantine for two weeks.

According to the Mirror, plans to return to Australia have fallen through and the show will be staged in Wales for a second time:

Sad and frustrating news, as IMO Australia just makes a better show. But, that said - assuming it returns to Australia *next year* (surely?), that will coincide with the show's 20th anniversary, which will hopefully make for a nice 'event' series.
In the meantime, let's hope they can build on last year's series. It will never feel the same, as the two locations are just so vastly different in size and tone - but hopefully they can refine the things that just didn't work last year.

I have no doubt the production team will produce another hugely entertaining series.”
Richard Cowles, Director of Unscripted at Lifted Entertainment, said: “With the continued uncertainty around covid and international travel we have taken the decision not to return to our home in Australia for the 2021 series. We’re excited to return to Gwrych Castle. The last series was a huge success and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone locally and can’t wait to see everyone again.”
Dr Mark Baker, Chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust said: “I’m absolutely delighted that I’m A Celebrity has chosen Gwrych Castle to be its UK location for the 2021 series.
"Gwrych Castle is a beautiful grade I listed historic house and a must-see destination for tourists visiting Wales. I’m A Celebrity being here will really help support its ongoing restoration as well as giving the region a much-needed economic boost. We are all very excited to be working with the team again.”

The right decision in the circumstances. Australia's looking quite unpredictable at the moment, and the last thing they need is to have the plug pulled any later in the day.
The Welsh series was the first I've watched in years - initially just tuning in due to the novelty of it and to see how the surrounding presentation was adapted, but sticking around because I enjoyed it. Not sure if I'll bother again this year, so they may well lose the other "casual" viewers like myself who were initially there to see how it worked in the different setting. But I have no doubt they'll build on last year and probably end up with a better show now they know the logistics of the Castle version.

I think most people watch based on the participants, and I'm not sure they had the best pick last year as it fell a bit flat.

A real shame. I think they need to work on the trials more and use the surrounding areas. The biggest issue last year for me was all the trials felt very samey and quite dull.

Apart from the very first one, were any of the trials filmed outside? Hopefully they can be a little more ambitious this year. It's not great that the trials all take place at night, but there's not much you can do about that...
Last year I missed the water tank and high wire challenges - I've got no idea if it would be possible to replicate those somewhere in the castle grounds, but it would help a lot, IMO.
